ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

NOVEMBER 13th, 2OO7

TODAY'S THOUGHT

Nothing splendid has ever been acheived except by those who dared believe that something inside of them was superior to circumstance

Bruce Barton

TODAY’S ACTION

Every day, try to be a little wiser than you were the day before.

TODAY'S QUOTE

I believe the nicest and sweetest days are not those on which anything very splendid or wonderful or exciting happens but just those that bring simple little pleasures, following one another softly, like pearls slipping off a string.

L. M. Montgomery

HAPPY TUESDAY!!

For those of you that need rain, I'd certainly like to share some with you. It's been wet and drippy around here for 2 straight days now. The nice thing is that it is warmer !

Work continues to be very busy! That boss of mine is squeezing everything he can into these couple of weeks before Thanksgiving, I can hardly do what I'm supposed to do. Here we started a brand new week and I hadn't finished all of last weeks work yet. We'll see what today brings....

He is retiring after the first of the year so I suppose things will really change then. The only relief is sight is that after next year, I hope to retire too!

Tonight is my meeting at church. May it be a short one.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

TODAY’S PRAYERS

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

25 WORDS

God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me, and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name I am in the hands of God, and in God's time all things will be made well.

TODAY’S SMILE

A little boy is telling his Grandma how "everything" is going wrong. School, family problems, severe health problems, etc. Meanwhile, Grandma is baking a cake.

She asks the child if he would like a snack, which of course he does. "Here. Have some cooking oil." "Yuck" says the boy.

"How about a couple raw eggs?" "Gross, Grandma." "Would you like some flour then? Or maybe baking soda?"

"Grandma, those are all yucky!"

To which Grandma replies: "Yes, all those things seem bad all by themselves. But when they are put together in the right way, they make a wonderfully delicious cake!

God works the same way. Many times we wonder why he would let us go through such bad and difficult times. But God knows that when He puts these things all in His order, they always work for good! We just have to trust Him and, eventually, they will all make something wonderful!"

TODAY’S WORD

TODAY’S REFLECTION

Better to be thrown into the sea … than lead astray one of these little ones from the Gospel reading

Luke 17:1-6

In a eulogy at Helen’s funeral, her daughter Lizzie made the comment: ‘It was not until I was twenty that I realised I was not quite as beautiful or as brilliant as my mother always told me’. Now herself a mother, Lizzie is assured, funny, spontaneous and completely natural.

She quipped that she suffers from over-confidence! Laughing and crying, she poured out her gratitude for what Helen, a sole parent, had done for her.

Newspapers seem full of life’s casualties: people whose self-destructive lives seem traceable back to families where there is little nurture. The cause may be illness or addiction, or an emphasis on success or materialism.

Jesus, you loved and welcomed children. Help us to give children our time and companionship when they are young so that these bonds will be a source of strength throughout their lives.

TODAY’S ADVICE FROM THE OLD FARMER’S ALMANAC

Experience teaches you to recognize a mistake when you've made it again

39 DAYS UNTIL WINTER !

November, take flail, let ships no more sail!" advises the weather lore.

November 15, 1900, brought Watertown, New York, 45 inches of snow. Tucson, Arizona, received 6 inches of snow on November 16, 1958. On that day in 1959, Lincoln, Montana, experienced a temperature of 53 degrees Fahrenheit below. And on November 18, 1989, Cleveland, Ohio, received 20 inches of snow.

If this marked the end of mild-mannered Indian summer (traditionally November 11 to 20), people must have wondered what winter would bring!

Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your Heart

Psalm 37:4

May there be a miracle in YOUR life today and may you have the EYES to SEE it!

I Love You All !!!

Be Blessed !!!
