TODAY'S THOUGHT
Each today, well lived, makes yesterday a dream of happiness and each tomorrow a vision of hope. Look, therefore, to this one day, for it and it alone is life.

TODAY'S QUOTE
Two sounds of autumn are unmistakable, the hurrying rustle of crisp leaves blown along the street or road by a gusty wind, and the gabble of a flock of migrating geese. Both are warnings of chill days ahead, fireside and topcoat weather.

HAPPY FINALLY FRIDAY!!
It is topcoat weather here. The wind blew in some cold weather for sure. BRRRCHILL!
You will probably hear me say that alot as the really cold days still have yet to come. Good old January Februay and March often bring much colder weather.
It is Friday so I won't complain too loudly. My favorite day of the week is always a pretty good one, so I'll just pretend I'm on that 'trip to the beach' today andforget about the cold. T
his weekend is the finish up of my Christmas shopping. I'm almost there. I have to check that long list once more and make sure, but I think there are only about 3 people I've got left to shop for.
Two of those 3 people have not given me any ideas yet, so they may be getting a few surprizes.
Next week I'll get ready for Thanksgiving! There may be a few surprizes there too !
Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !
TODAY’S PRAYERS
Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
25 WORDS
God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me, and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name
I am in the hands of God, and in God's time all things will be made well.
TODAY IS…BIRTH OF THE BLUES DAY
It is the birthday in 1873 of bandleader W.C. Handy, "Father of the Blues." Handy was born in Florence, Alabama. He acknowledged that he did not invent the blues but merely transcribed them and presented them to a worldwide audience. Handy composed the famous tunes “St. Louis Blues,” “Memphis Blues,” “Yellow Dog Blues,” and “Beale Street Blues
TODAY'S TRIVIA
Today is National Fast Food Day
The Feast Day of St. Matthew, honoring the memory of a despised tax collector who became an Apostle of Jesus and author of the first book in The New Testament.
1907: Oklahoma became the 46th U.S. state. The word, Oklahoma, is a combination of two Choctaw words meaning red people. Then, why Sooner? Many, many Oklahoma homesteaders thought sooner was better than later, better to stake their homesteads first, before it was legal to do so. Oil wells pop up all over the Oklahoma landscape, even in the bustling state capital, Oklahoma City. And, when that wind comes sweeping down the plain, it picks up the state bird, the scissor-tail flycatcher, and spreads the parasitic state flower, the mistletoe.
1955: Tennessee Ernie Ford's "Sixteen Tons" hit #1 in America only three weeks after its release, becoming history's fastest-selling record to that time
1959: "The Sound of Music" opened on Broadway starring Mary Martin.
TODAY’S SMILE
By Albert Ching
There's this problem that has been bugging me for months already. Every once in a while I would hear a creaking noise somewhere along this short corridor leading towards the living room.
The noise is not regular and seems to happen when doors are being opened or closed, or when someone is passing through. It also seems to happen more at night.
Given that we have timber flooring, my first guess would be a creaky floorboard. Then again, there would be times when I can still hear the short, creaking sound even when no one is around. Give that ghosts and spirits are weightless, my guess was that temperature differences was causing a tight floorboard to creak.
I tried to pinpoint the source, but it's not easy given the surrounding acoustics. A few weeks later, the creaking/chirping noise became more insistent and regular. My dad's theory is a trapped rat in the attic because he says the sound is definitely coming from above.
Turns out he was right - partly. I looked up and there it was - a fire alarm in need of a battery change.
(This is a reminder for us all to check those batteries out)

TODAY’S REFLECTION
I tell you the truth, Jesus said, this poor widow has put in more than all the others.
Luke 21:3
Jesus watched a poor widow bring a very small offering to the temple, but it was all she had. He compared her with wealthy people who only gave part of their possessions. He considered her small gift "more than all the others."
When you began to think of others, you will find that your joy in life increases; for there is no way that you can outgive the Lord. "Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you" (Luke 6:38).
When your thoughts are centered on yourself and your own needs, you miss out on the joy that comes to you when you share with others
