HAPPY FINALLY FRIDAY!!

We may have a few snow showers today. It was down in the 20's again last night and very windy all day yesterday. I've been on a quest for some new boots to wear. I had found sone on Amazon but got a notice they were no longer available. Now I've ordered another pair which cost more, of course, but very similar to the others.

When that snow decides to come and stay awhile, I have to keep these feet warm and dry. Last year mine decided to spring a leak, so I knew I needed new ones. I''ve been in the stores and haven't seen any I liked, so hopefully, the ones I ordered will come.

This evening after work DD and her hubby are supposed to come by to help me with installing an under the cupboard TV in my kitchen. Thankfully they were willing to help as I am a klutz at doing anything in the way of putting anything together. I've often wondered what I really was good at, but I haven't found out just yet. I'm sure the dear Lord will show me all in good time. DD and her hubby and DS#5 and his wife are usually available to help me out when needed as they are the ones living close by. I will feed them some pizza for dinner tonight.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

TODAY’S PRAYERS

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

LORD, hold our troops in you loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perfor for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior

GOD BLESS YOU !

25 WORDS

God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me, and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name

TO REMEMBER ...

I am in the hands of God, and in God's time all things will be made well.

TODAY IS…SACHER TORTE DAY

Austrians take their baking seriously - and the definition of a true Sacher Torte had to be decided in court. In the early 1800's, the Congress of Vienna ruled that a Sacher Torte was made of two chocolate cake layers separated by apricot jam with a chocolate glaze on the top and sides. The most famous Sacher Tort is made (of course)at the Sacher Hotel in Vienna, but you can makes your's at home.

4 egg whites

6 tbsp margarine or butter

3 squares (3oz) semisweet chocolate

4 slightly beaten egg yolks

1 tsp vanilla

1/3 cup sugar

 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1/3 cup apricot preserves

Chocolate Glaze

2 squares (2 oz) semisweet chocolate

2 tbsp butter

3/4 cup powdered sugar

4 tsp hot water

In a large mixing bowl, bring egg whites to room temperature. Grease and flour a 9" round baking pan and preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Melt the butter and chocolate over low heat in a medium saucepan. Cool, then stir in egg yolks and vanilla. Set this pan of chocolate mixture aside. Beat the egg whites with an electric mixer untill soft peaks form. Gradually add sugar beating on high speed for about 4 minutes or untill it forms stiff peaks. Gently fold about 1 cup of egg whites into the saucepan of chocolate mixture. Then fold the chocolate mixture into the rest of the egg whites. Gently fold in the flour. Don't overfold. Spread the batter into the round baking pan. Bake for about 35 minutes or untill a toothpick inserted near center comes out clean. Cool in the pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes. Remove cake from pan and cool completely.

TIP: When I make this, I divide the batter between two round cake pans and decrease the baking time so I don't have to cut one layer in half. These directions are for the original method. Cut cake horizontally into two even layers. Put one layer on a sheet of waxed paper. Spread the preserves over the top. Add the second cake layer. Spoon Sacher Torte Chocolate Glaze over cake so it runs down the sides. Carefully transfer cake to a serving plate.

Sacher Torte Chocolate Glaze:

Melt 2 squares chocolate in a saucepan with 2 tbsp butter. Remove from heat. Stir in 3/4 cup powdered sugar and 4 tsp hot water till smooth. If needed, stir in more hot water so it is easy to drizzle.

TIP 2: True chocoholics might want to double this glaze recipe for full coverage of the cake.

TODAY’S SMILE

In 1879, Procter and Gamble's best seller was candles. But the company was in trouble. Thomas Edison had invented the light bulb, and the market for candles plummeted since they were now sold only for special occasions. The outlook appeared to be bleak for Procter and Gamble.

A forgetful employee at a small factory in Cincinnati forgot to turn off his machine when he went to lunch. When he returned he found a frothing mass of lather filled with air bubbles. He almost threw the stuff away but instead decided to try to make it into soap.

The soap floated! Some people bathed in the Ohio River. Floating soap would never sink and consequently never got lost. Thus, Ivory soap was born and became the mainstay of the Procter and Gamble Company
