TODAY IS…ACCORDIAN LOVERS DAY !

In 1829, two men patented portable instruments based on the same principle - free reeds activated by a keyboard and a set of bellows. Sir Charles Wheatstone of Middlesex, England, called his the concertina. Cyrill Demian in Vienna, Austria, named his the accordian. The instrument came to the U.S. in the mid-1830s. Also know as a squeeze box or a hand harmonica, it was the favorite instrument for both Confederate and Union soldiers during the Civil War

TODAY’S SMILE

Todd's wife bought a new line of expensive cosmetics guaranteed to make her look years younger. After a lengthy sitting before the mirror applying the "miracle" products, she asked, "Darling, honestly, what age would you say I am?"

Looking over her carefully, Todd replied, "Judging from your skin, twenty; your hair, eighteen; and your figure, twenty five." "Oh, you flatterer!" she gushed.

"Hey, wait a minute!" Todd interrupted. "I haven't added them up yet."

Warning Today for Dogs

DOG OWNERS BEWARE!!!!

PLEASE READ Verified by Snopes .com & BY GOOGLE

Over the weekend the doting owner of two young lab mixes purchased Cocoa Mulch from Target to use in their garden. They loved the way it smelled and it was advertised to keep cats away from their garden.

Their dog Calypso, decided that the mulch smelled good enough to eat and devoured a large helping. She vomited a few times which was typical when she eats something new but wasn't acting lethargic in any way.

The next day, Mom woke up and took Calypso out for her morning walk. Half way through the walk, she had a seizure and died instantly.

Although the mulch had NO warnings printed on the label, upon further investigation on the company's website, this product is HIGHLY toxic to dogs.

Cocoa Mulch is manufactured by Hershey's, and they claim that "It is true that studies have shown that 50% of the dogs that eat Cocoa Mulch can suffer physical harm to a variety of degrees (depending on each individual dog). However, 98% of all dogs won't eat it."

True information about the mulch can be found here - http://www.snopes.com/critters/crusader/cocoa.htm

(I personally had never heard of cocoa bean mulch until now--I guess it’s recently become popular )

TODAY’S REFLECTION

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith -- and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God -- not by works, so that no one can boast.

Ephesians 2:8-9

Paul was writing to Christians who had seen how the Pharisees flaunted their religious power. He wanted them to realize that they couldn't earn their way into God's kingdom, for it is the gift of God to those who have faith.

Simple living is at its best when we do not brag about our faith, but live it each and every day.
