JUNE 17th , 2006

TODAY'S THOUGHT

Hope is like the sun which, as we journey towards it, casts the shadow of our burden behind us.

Samuel Smiles

TODAY’S ACTION

TODAY’S QUOTE

A winner says “It may be difficult but it's possible.”

A loser says “It may be possible but it's too difficult.”

HAPPY SATURDAY !

Hot weather is here…close to 90 yesterday and mid 90’s for today…the humidity was very low though and it was quite pleasant outside.

My little beagle ‘girl’ hasn’t been doing well since we painted the kitchen (that’s over a month ago) when she got into a box of chocolate and ate most of it. She’s lost lots of weight and was refusing to eat anything, that is until yesterday. Out of desperation I got some expensive dog food…the kind that’s in a little package that cost 79cents a serving. She gulped that down like she was starving. I think she was—and again today she ate very well. Hopefully that means she’s on the mend. I just hope we don’t have to stay on this expensive diet too long, but I’m glad she’s eating.

It looks like we won’t have to mow the grass this weekend. We need rain badly and it’s just not growing. The weather man says maybe we’ll get some Sunday night

I plan on doing the weekly ‘house blessing’ this morning and the usual visit with my Dad this evening and that’s about all the news from home for today.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way!

Remember… Smiling is contagious to everything around you.

TODAY IS MUD PACK DAY

The best old-fashioned, time-tested facial is... MUD! You might dig up some dirt in your own yard - or go buy a cheap mud masque at any drug store. This refreshs your skin by stimulating blood circulation and relaxing tired muscles. If you need a "pick-me-up" just wash your face, apply the mud pack, allow 15 minutes for it to dry and harden, then remove with warm water and a washcloth.

Oh... and don't go near anyone who has a camera!

TODAY’S TRIVIA

Today is National Apple Streudel Day

Today is National Eat All Your Vegetables Day

1870: George Cormack was born in Scotland. In 1924, working in the U.S., he invented Wheaties, breakfast of champions

1885: Statue of Liberty arrived in NYC aboard the French ship `Isere'

TODAY’S SMILE

A crow was sitting on a tree, doing nothing all day. A small rabbit noticed the crow, and asked, "Can I sit like you and do nothing all day long?"

The crow answered, "Sure, why not." So, the rabbit sat on the ground below the crow, and rested. All of a sudden, a fox appeared, jumped on the rabbit and ate it.

Moral Of The Story: To be sitting and doing nothing, you must be sitting very, very high up.

PENNY LIVES

The little girl’s father had just given her a silver dollar to put into her bank. She excitedly ran off to her room to “deposit” the coin. However, in a few minutes she returned and handed the silver coin back to her father. “Daddy,” she said sadly, “here’s your dollar back. I can’t get it into my bank.”

“Why not?” her concerned father asked. “It’s too full,” she said, obviously disappointed. Her father accompanied her back to her room and, sure enough, her bank was too full to accept even one more coin.

It was filled with pennies!

It is so easy to fill our lives with “Pennies” and leave out the “first” things and big things of life.

TODAY’S REFLECTION

All of you young people should obey your elders. In fact, everyone should be humble toward everyone else. The Scriptures say 'God opposes proud people, but he helps everyone who is humble.

I Peter 5:5

Peter is giving good advice to both young people and parents. If youth and elder could learn to be humble and not try to be a "know-it-all," respecting the other person enough to listen, what a wonderful world we would have

So many times we open our mouths and say things we later regret.

Benjamin Franklin wrote, "A slip of the foot you may soon recover, but a slip of the tongue you may never get over."
