ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

JUNE 21ST , 2006

TODAY'S THOUGHT

When one door of happiness closes, another opens, but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one that has been opened for us.

Helen Keller

TODAY’S ACTION

Take time today to nourish your soul with beauty and silence.

TODAY’S QUOTE

Animals are such agreeable friends - they ask no questions, they pass no criticisms.

George Eliot

HAPPY WEDNESDAY AND HAPPY SUMMER !

We had a beautiful day yesterday, but a sad one for me.

My beagle girl passed away. I thought she was getting better, but I guess not. It’s just very hard to express my feelings, so I’ll just say she will be missed. I have lots of fond memories of her and was blessed to have had her for as long as I did.

Take good care all !

Have a great day ! Another wonderful one on the Way!

RAINBOW BRIDGE

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance.

His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.

The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together….

TODAY IS…IT’S FINALLY SUMMER !

The first day of summer is the longest day of the year. It occurs when the earth changes it's position as it rotates around the sun - placing the sun at it's most northerly point and directly overhead. The temperature and weather will not change instantly. The warmest days usually arrive several weeks after the beginning of the summer season. And don't forget the seasons are reversed in the Southern Hemisphere.

TODAY’S TRIVIA

Today is the first day of summer or winter, depending on which hemisphere you're in. In the northern hemisphere summer began this morning at 8:26 (EDT); winter began in the southern hemisphere

TODAY’S REFLECTION

Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding, for he is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold.

Proverbs 3:13-14

Today’s scripture reminds us that we are blessed when we have wisdom. Then notice that it adds, "the man who gains understanding." How does one gain wisdom and understanding? By taking time to think of the various aspects of a situation before acting. Or by taking time to consider the thoughts and feelings of another person

When we obey Jesus' command to love the Lord our God and to love our neighbor as ourselves, we will gain God's wisdom and understanding, and what a blessing that is

Knowledge and timber shouldn't be used until they are seasoned

IT’S SUMMER!

Summer Solstice

The timing of the summer solstice depends on when the Sun reaches its farthest point north of the equator. This occurs annually sometime between June 20 and 22, heralding the beginning of summer. The word solstice is from the Latin solstitium, from sol (sun) and stitium (to stop), reflecting the fact that the Sun appears to stop at this time (and again at the winter solstice).

In temperate regions, we notice that the Sun is higher in the sky throughout the day, and its rays strike Earth at a more direct angle, causing the efficient warming we call summer. In the winter, just the opposite occurs: The Sun is at its southernmost point and is low in the sky. Its rays hit the Northern Hemisphere at an oblique angle, creating the feeble winter sunlight.

Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your Heart
