ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

TUESDAY, JULY 19, 2005

TODAY'S THOUGHT

In your own life, every day you have a
chance to put Christ before anything in
your life, even before your personal health
or wellness. Your faith should not be about
your getting what you think you need and want.
Your faith should be about witnessing to others
about how much Christ loves them and cares
for them. Your faith should be about being
willing to witness regardless of the personal consequences to you

TODAY'S ACTION

Kindness is a language which the deaf can
hear and the blind can read.

Mark Twain

 TODAY'S RESOLUTION

I shall help others as a true witness
to God’s love for them

 TODAY'S QUOTE

Growth begins when we begin to accept our own weakness.   Jean Vanier

HAPPY TUESDAY !

The painter is supposed to start painting our house today - we have 3 days of sun with no rain promised.  He should have it done by then ! I think that after today it's supposed to cool down a little and some of the humidity will clear out.  It's been uncomfortable to go outside.  Maybe my age is showing, but when it gets in the 90's , I just want to stay in the air conditioning.

  HAVE A GREAT DAY !

ANOTHERWONDERFUL ONE ON THE WAY !

TODAY IS...FLITCH DAY !

An old custom brought to America by the early settlers became the holiday we now call Flitch Day. Once a year, a slab of bacon was given to any married couple who could prove they had lived in harmony and fidelity for the past twelve months.

Very few took home the bacon

TODAY'S SMILE

An instructor at a girls’ school in the southwest is giving her students what she calls a “charm course.”

“You give your escort the chance to be gallant,” she says. “For instance, you should remain seated in the pickup truck until he has had time to step around and open the door for you.”

Then, returning to reality she adds
Of course, if the big oaf is in the restaurant ordering his steak, don’t wait any longer

TODAY'S WORD

telegenic • \tel-uh-JEN-ik\ adjective
: well-suited to the medium of television; especially : having an appearance and manner that are markedly attractive to television viewers
The advertising agency is always on the lookout for telegenic people for its commercials

   TODAY'S REFLECTION

My dear friends, you always obeyed when I was with you. Now that I am away, you should obey even more. So work with fear and trembling to discover what it really means to be saved. God is working in you to make you willing and able to obey him.   Philippians 2:12-13

Paul is pleased with the church at Philippi because of their faithfulness. He wants them to continue to be faithful to Christ, even though Paul has left them. Because of Christ's sacrifice, God has given us salvation. But it is up to us to study God's Word, be faithful and obedient, and strive to make our simple living worthy of God's approval. And the good news is that "it is God who works in you…You have the Holy Spirit to strengthen and guide you in all that you do.
