ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

AUGUST 15TH, 2007

TODAY'S THOUGHT

Sometimes our light goes out but is blown into flame by another human being. Each of us owes deepest thanks to those who have rekindled this light.

Albert Schweitzer

TODAY’S ACTION

Let the quality of your deeds speak on your behalf.

TODAY’S QUOTE

The great thing about getting older is that you don't lose all the other ages you've been.

Madeleine L'Engle

HAPPY WEDNESDAY !!

Good news to share with you all today. My friend’s great-granddaughter will probably go home from the hospital by the end of this week for the very first time and with lots of patience and prayers, she has the potential to have a great and normal life Here is a new picture of her

It looks like she is fascinated with her hand, doesn’t it

I’ll continue to pray for her and for her Mom and Dad. They will have their hands full for awhile .

Our rain didn’t materialize on Tuesday, now they are saying Wednesday night and into Thursday. We don’t really need anymore right at the moment. Our grass is growing like crazy.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

25 WORDS

TODAY IS…ANGEL FOOD CAKE DAY

An angel food cake is a simple sponge cake. This means it's made without egg yolks or any other source of fat. To keep it a fat-free dessert, serve unfrosted slices with fresh fruit.

The secret to making this cake is to drop the cake pan on the floor several times before putting it in the over. This will get all the air bubbles out of the batter.

1 cup cake flour

1 1/2 cups sugar

12 egg whites

1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla

1 1/2 teaspoons cream of tartar

1/2 teaspoon salt

Berry Icing

2 cups powdered sugar

1 dash salt

1/4 cup fresh berries (any kind), crushed

2 teaspons lemon juice

1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Wash and dry your 10 inch tube pan to make sure there isn't any oil residue on the pan. 2. Sift together the flour, and 3/4 cup of sugar. Set aside. 3. In a large bowl, whip the egg whites, vanilla, cream of tartar and salt to medium stiff peaks. Slowly add the rest of the sugar while continuing to whip. When you have stiff peaks, fold in the sifted ingredients one third at a time. Don't overmix. Pour the batter into the ungreased tube pan. 4. Bake 40 - 45 minutes until the cake springs back when touched. Balance the tube pan upside while cooling. When cool, run a knife around the edge of the pan and invert onto a plate.

5. Icing: Add the sugar and salt to your crushed fruit. Mix well. Add just enough lemon juice so the icing is thin enough to spread on the cake.

TODAY’S SMILE

A few short ones today….

Dave went on a business trip for a few days. When he returned, his wife reported that the dog really missed him. "She spent every night at the front door, waiting for you to come home," she said. "What an example of devotion," Dave replied. "I wonder if you'd be that concerned about me?"

"Honey," she answered, "if you were gone overnight, and I didn't know where you were, you can be sure I'd be waiting for you at the front door."

A dog saw somebody putting money into a parking meter and reported to the other dogs, "They're putting in pay toilets!" When an American visiting a small English town lost a valuable dog, he asked to have a notice printed in the local evening newspaper offering one hundred pounds reward for its return.

Evening came, but no paper appeared, the American waited for some time, then he went to the newspaper office. There, he found no-one but the night-watchman. "Isn't the newspaper coming out tonight?" he asked.

"I doubt it, sir," the night-watchman said, "the whole staff is out looking for a lost dog."

A dog owns nothing, yet is seldom dissatisfied.

TODAY’S WORD

commensurate \kuh-MEN(T)S-uhr-it; -shuhr-\, adjective:

TODAY’S REFLECTION

The word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may do it.

Deuteronomy 30:14

It's healthy to be inquisitive, but it isn't healthy to obsess over matters that don't really matter. Such questions may sidetrack us from our faith. What we need to know about God and His will for us is clearly spelled out in Scripture.

The words He spoke through Moses to His people are true for us today. "For this commandment which I command you today is not too mysterious for you, nor is it far off. . . . But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in yourheart, that you may do it" (Deuteronomy 30:11,14).

The Bible isn't a riddle; it's a revelation. It tells us all we need to know to be all that God wants us to be in every situation in life. The Bible is as wise in what it leaves unsaid as in what it says
