TODAY'S THOUGHT

Of all the diversions of life, there is none so perfect as to help another.

TODAY’S ACTION

Look around you for the opportunity to extend your hand, your time, your love. It is there

TODAY’S QUOTE

Every evening I turn my worries over to God. He is going to be up all night anyway.

HAPPY SUPER SATURDAY !!

I’m sipping my good cup of coffee this morning and thanking the dear Lord for my many blessings. Saturday mornings at home are just that for me.

I had to take my beagle to get his shots yesterday and the vets got quite a laugh because of him. You see he is quite round around the middle. The first doctor that looked at him thought he might be retaining fluid and that would be a sign of heart problems, he asked a 2nd doctor what he thought and they agreed to do a sonogram of his round belly to see what was up.

Well to make a long story short, his round belly is fat. That is what they found – he is just fat. They laughed and laughed as they’d never seen that in a dog before. Usually if they are overweight it is more evenly distributed. Well he is a healthy and fat beagle for sure. He’s all up to date on shots and he loved the ride in the car. I guess we both need more exercise. I too tend to be a little round around the middle.

I hope to get out later in the day to do a little shopping, other wise it’s a pretty quiet day here. Just the usual house blessing to do.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me, and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name

TODAY IS…CHERRY POPSICLE DAY

There's nothing like a popsicle on a hot summer day. Flavored "ices" were being made almost as soon as people had ice. They chipped off small pieces, added syrup and served it in a bowl with a spoon. The next step was adding the sticks, and... the rest is history.

Make Your Own Popsicles

Fresh or frozen berries

1 can seltzer water

1/4 cup sugar

1/2 cup orange juice

small paper cups

popscicle sticks

1. Put the seltzer water, sugar and orange juice in a blender and mix.

2. Add a handful of berries (to taste). Strawberries or blueberries work well. Blend until well mixed.

3. Pour into the paper cups. You then need to add a popscicle stick to each cup.

TIP: Put the cups in the freezer - add sticks once the liquid is slushy. Freeze until hard.

TODAY’S SMILE

REFINER OF SILVER

Author Unknown

Some time ago, a few ladies met to read the scriptures. While reading the third chapter of Malachi they came upon a remarkable expression in the third verse. "And He shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver."

One lady's opinion was that it was intended to convey the view of the sanctifying influence of the grace of Christ. Then she proposed to visit a silversmith and report to her friends what he said on the subject.

She went accordingly and without telling the objective of her errand, begged to know the process of refining silver, which he fully described to her.

"But Sir," she said, "Do you sit while the work of refining is going on?" "Oh, yes, madam," replied the silversmith, "I must sit with my eye steadily fixed on the furnace, for if the time necessary for refining is exceeded in the slightest degree, the silver will be injured."

The lady at once saw the beauty, and comfort too, of the expression, "He shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver."

Christ sees it needful to put His children into a furnace; His eye is steadily intent on the work of purifying, and His wisdom and love are both engaged in the best manner for them. Their trials do not come at random; "the very hairs of our head are all numbered."

As the lady was leaving the shop, the silversmith called her back, and said that he had one more thing further to mention, that he only knows when the process of purifying is complete, by seeing his own image reflected in the silver.

TODAY’S REFLECTION

Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord God, my God, is with you

I Chronicles 28:20

King David was nearing his death and was instructing Solomon. He said three things that each of us can apply to our prayerful living.

1. "Be strong and courageous." Whenever we set out to do a project, we must be strong and courageous in the face of the obstacles that are certain to appear.

2. "Do the work." Often we begin with great enthusiasm, but we allow the everyday things of life to get in the way and the project is never finished.

3. "Do not be afraid or discouraged." Fear of failure is one of the greatest obstacles to success. It is also easy to become afraid or discouraged, when others tell us it can't be done.

Whatever task or problem you face today, remember David's three suggestions -- be strong; do the work; don't be discouraged

TODAY’S ADVICE FROM THE OLD FARMER’S ALMANAC

Fine weather on St. Lawrence Day (yesterday) indicates a good autumn

42 DAYS UNTIL AUTUMN!

The Old Farmer’s Almanac lists the traditional timing of the Dog Days: the 40 days beginning July 3 and ending August 11, coinciding with the heliacal (at sunrise) rising of the Dog Star, Sirius. The rising of Sirius does not actually affect the weather (some of our hottest and most humid days occur after August 11), but for the ancient Egyptians, Sirius appeared just before the season of the Nile's flooding so they used the star as a "watchdog" for that event. Since its rising also coincided with a time of extreme heat, the connection with hot, sultry weather was made for all time.

Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your Heart Psalm 37:4

May there be a miracle in YOUR life today and may you have the EYES to SEE it!

I Love You All !!!

Be Blessed !!!
