ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

AUGUST 25TH, 2OO7

TODAY'S THOUGHT

Practice hope. As hopefulness becomes a habit, you can achieve a permanently happy spirit.

Dr. Norman Vincent Peale

TODAY’S ACTION

Today keep hope in your life and a smile on your face.

TODAY’S QUOTE

Wouldn't it be nice if we could find other things as easily as we find fault?

HAPPY SUPER SATURDAY !!

This was such a busy week and the weekend promises to be a busy one too ! I go to the dentist in the morning and then after that the flooring people come back to finish up what they didn’t do on Wednesday. They ran out of time and didn’t do the little entry way and steps by the basement door.

When they finish up I’ll be going out to DD’s new home to help clean a bit. She has it all done but 3 rooms and hopefully that will done today.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

25 WORDS

God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me, and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name

TODAY IS…SOY BEAN DAY

Soybeans are the only bean that contain the same proteins as meat - plus immune system builders. Originating in China, it was a staple food crop in the Far East for thousands of years. Introduced to the US in the early 1800s, it is now a leading crop right behind corn and wheat. Cooked Soybeans can be substituted for diced meat in any recipe - if you can get used to the taste.

TODAY’S TRIVIA

Today is National Banana Split Day

Be Kind to Humankind Week begins today

Kiss and Make Up Day - This is a day to mend broken relationships

1916 - The U.S. National Park Service was created

1949 - NBC radio debuted Father Knows Best. The Thursday night program aired for five years. Robert Young played the role of Jim Anderson, the ever-patient father. The rest of the family included wife Margaret, son Bud and lovely daughters Betty (the eldest) and Kathy. The family lived on Maple Street in Springfield. Remember Bud’s favorite phrase (he only said it about six dozen times per show)? “Holy Cow!” Father Knows Best made the transition to TV in 1954, with Robert Young as the only cast member to continue with the show

1984 - The Cabbage Patch Kids and Trivial Pursuit were replaced by the latest fad toys: robotic action figures that fought galactic battles. They were called Transformers

1972: In Great Britain, computerized axial tomography (CAT scan) was introduced.

TODAY’S SMILE

The Law of the Garbage Truck.

Many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it. And if you let them, they'll dump it on you.

When someone wants to dump on you, don't take it personal. You just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. You'll be happy you did. I guarantee it.

I have begun to see "Garbage Trucks." I see the load they're carrying. I see them coming to drop it off. And like my Taxi Driver, I don't make it a personal thing; I just smile, wave, wish them well, and I move on.

Good leaders know they have to be ready for their next meeting. Good parents know that they have to welcome their children home from school with hugs and kisses. Leaders and parents know that they have to be fully present and at their best for the people they care about.

The bottom line is that successful people do not let “Garbage Trucks” take over their day. What about you? What would happen in your life, starting today, if you let more “Garbage Trucks” pass you by?

I believe that you'll be happier. I guarantee it.

TODAY’S WORD

effrontery \ih-FRUN-tuh-ree\, noun:

Insulting presumptuousness; shameless boldness; insolence

Who would have the effrontery to treat the chairman in this way?

TODAY’S REFLECTION

Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth, before the difficult days come, and the years draw near when you say, 'I have no pleasure in them' Ecclesiastes 12:1

The writer of today's scripture had a very pessimistic view of old-age . I have known those in their middle years who are older than some who have reached their 80s.

These happy octogenarians have never lost their love of life. They still expect good things to happen. Their minds stay active, and even though they may not hear as well, see as well or move as well, they do as much as they are able and enjoy it.

When you have faith in God's loving care, there is no room for doubt, fear and despair. Your hope is in the Lord and your confidence is high because you know he has given you the power and the sound mind to tackle any difficulty.

So have the courage to be a cock-eyed optimist, knowing that God is always with you, ready to supply your needs.

TODAY’S ADVICE FROM THE OLD FARMER’S ALMANAC

Expect fair weather when crows fly in pairs.

28 DAYS UNTIL AUTUMN!

Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your Heart

Psalm 37:4

May there be a miracle in YOUR life today and may you have the EYES to SEE it!

I Love You All !!!

Be Blessed !!!
