ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

AUGUST 21, 2OO7

TODAY'S THOUGHT

The friend who can be silent with us in our moments of despair or confusion, who face us with the reality of our powerlessness, that is a friend who cares.

TODAY’S ACTION

Today avoid making mountains out of molehills

TODAY’S QUOTE

Take the first step in faith. You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

HAPPY TUESDAY !!

We had rain and more rain and that’s about all you could say weatherwise for our part of the country yesterday. Some people are still experiencing drought conditions and 100 degree weather, but not us for sure. I don’t think that it hit 70 degrees here Monday, but today is supposed to be warmer.

I find that I’m suffering from lack of sunshine already, and can only wonder what I’ll be like when winter comes around again. Hopefully, there will be a little break in clouds today and a ray of sunshine or two peeps through.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

25 WORDS

God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me, and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name

TODAY IS…DISTILLED WATER DAY

Distilled water is the purest water available. It's just water - plain old H2O. Everything else is removed when it's converted from liquid to steam during the distillation process. It has no taste, so using it can bring out the flavor of your coffee, tea or food. And it won't leave mineral deposits to clog up your coffee pot. The only problem is... since we are used to drinking water out of the tap, it doesn't taste like water!

TODAY’S TRIVIA

Today is Cadillac Day. The first Cadillac was built on this day in 1902

Today is Hawaii Day. Hawaii became the 50th U.S. state on this date in 1959.

1912 - The first boy reached the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in the Boy Scouts of America program. He was Arthur R. Eldred of Oceanside, NY.

1935: Benny Goodman, introducing a new "big-band" jazz style, opened at the Palomar Ballroom in Los Angeles and was hailed as "The King of Swing." The swing era had begun

1950 - The United Nations moved into its new permanent facilities in New York City -- on land donated by the Rockefeller family

TODAY’S SMILE

A man was a passenger on a jet that ran into a very bad storm. The announcement came over the speaker, "We shall not be serving beverages at this time due to the turbulence. Please be sure your seat belt is fastened."

Ominous thunder could be heard above the plane's engines and they experienced sudden drops, as the plane was bounced around by the strong winds. Even though he was an experienced traveler, the man was as disturbed and fearful as those around him.

Then he looked across the aisle and saw a little girl who was calmly reading a book. She seemed to be absolutely unafraid of the storm, for she was totally immersed in what she was reading. The man could not believe what he was seeing.

After the plane had safely landed at its destination and they were taxiing to the gate, he leaned across the aisle and asked the little girl why she hadn't been afraid during the storm. She smiled and answered, "My Daddy's the pilot and he's taking me home."

Psalm 23 is a reminder to us that we have the greatest Pilot for life's journey and we are assured that he is safely taking us home. "Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever" (vs. 6).

TODAY’S REFLECTION

LORD, I call to you…Listen to me when I call to you.

Psalm 141:1

Nicodemus came to Jesus in the middle of the night. The centurion came in the middle of the day. The leper and the sinful woman appeared in the middle of crowds. Zacchaeus appeared in the middle of a tree. Matthew had a party for him.

The educated. The powerful. The rejected. The sick. The lonely. The wealthy. Who would ever assemble such a crew? All they had in common were their empty hope chests, long left vacant by charlatans and profiteers.

Though they had nothing to offer, they asked for everything: a new birth, a second chance, a fresh start, a clean conscience. And without exception their requests were honored. http://maxlucado.com/
