ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

AUGUST 17TH, 2007

TODAY'S THOUGHT

The music in my heart I bore long after it was heard no more.

William Wordsworth

TODAY’S ACTION

Hold on to what is good

TODAY’S QUOTE

We should never attempt to bear more than one kind of trouble at a time. Some people try to bear three kinds - all they have had, all they have now, and all they expect to have.

Edward Everett Hale

HAPPY FINALLY FRIDAY !!

It looks like we will have some nice sunny weather the next two days, but it’s supposed to be back to rain on Sunday.

We got some very good news on Thursday, DD and her hubby’s house closing will be on Monday. They are so happy and looking forward to their new home.

Work has been very busy but today should be a quiet one with things wrapping up for the weekend.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

25 WORDS

God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me, and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name

TODAY IS…#2 PENCIL DAY

One pencil can write 45,000 words or draw a line 35 miles long. It can write in zero gravity, upside down or under water. The "lead" is non-toxic graphite - the wood is cedar. Mass producted in Europe since 1622, the first U.S. pencils were made in 1812. And why are 75% of all pencils yellow? During the 1800s, the best graphite came from China. Yellow is the color they associate with royalty and respect. A pencil painted yellow became know as the best pencil you could buy

TODAY’S TRIVIA

Today is Coonskin Cap Day, always on the birthday of Davy Crockett, born on this date in 1786 in Hawkins County, Tennessee

Today is Sand Castle Day, a day to make sand castles at beaches everywhere

Theatre goers first saw the magical The Wizard of Oz in a gala premiere on this night in 1939.

1807 - Fulton’s Folly, the Clermont (although it wasn’t named at the time), made its first journey. Robert Fulton’s steamboat traveled between Albany, New York and New York City, a 150-mile journey. The trip took 32 hours.

1915 - Charles F. Kettering of Detroit, MI patented the electric, automobile self-starter. And it’s a good thing he did -- or we’d still be cranking our cars by hand.

TODAY’S SMILE

A young couple, very much in love, were getting married in church. However, Sue the wife was very nervous about the big occasion and so the vicar chose one verse that he felt would be a great encouragement to them.

The verse was 1 John 4:18 which says: “There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear.”

Rather unwisely, the vicar asked the best man to read it out and to say that the vicar had felt that this was a very apt verse for Sue and that he would be preaching on it later in the service.

However the best man was not a regular churchgoer. And so he did not know the difference between John’s Gospel and the First Letter of John. So he introduced his reading by saying that the vicar felt was a very apt verse for Sue.

But he read John 4:18, which says, “You have five husbands and the one that you now have is not your husband.”

TODAY’S WORD

fallible \FAL-uh-bul\, adjective:

1. Liable to make a mistake. 2. Liable to be inaccurate or erroneous.

But human beings are fallible. We know we all make mistakes.

Robert S. McNamara

TODAY’S REFLECTION

I thank my God upon every remembrance of you.

Philippians 1:3

One of the most precious gifts God has given us is the ability to remember. There are plenty of hurts and disappointments in life that we should forget. But good memories become a treasure chest of priceless reminders of relationships shared and joys experienced.

Paul felt that way about his time spent with the church in Philippi. His ability to remember his friends in Philippi brought him great comfort as he awaited trial in Rome, prompting him to joyfully pray for them. You could never have convinced him that comfort was found in being able to forget, because he rejoiced in being able to remember.

God gives us cherished memories Never let today’s burden erase yesterday’s blessing

TODAY’S ADVICE FROM THE OLD FARMER’S ALMANAC

‘CAT’ NIGHTS BEGIN

The term "Cat Nights" harks back to a rather obscure Irish legend concerning witches and the belief that a witch could turn herself into a cat eight times, but on the ninth time, August 17, she couldn't regain her human form.

This bit of folklore also led to the idea that a cat has nine lives. Since August is a "yowly" time for cats, this may have prompted the speculation about witches on the prowl.

36 DAYS UNTIL AUTUMN!

Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your Heart

Psalm 37:4

May there be a miracle in YOUR life today and may you have the EYES to SEE it!

I Love You All !!!

Be Blessed !!!
