ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

JULY 18TH, 2007

TODAY'S THOUGHT

Sorrow looks back... Worry looks around...But, faith looks up.

From ‘God’s Little Instruction Book’

TODAY’S ACTION

Today accept disappointments as well as joys . . . even a beautiful rose has a few thorns

TODAY’S QUOTE

Often the difference between a successful marriage and a mediocre one consists of leaving about three or four things a day unsaid.

Harlan Miller

HAPPY WEDNESDAY!

Over the Hump Day ! Did I say we are busy at work ! Wow…it is getting busier and busier. Just about the time I thought I was making headway in my piles yesterday, boss # 2 came up with a few more things for me to do.

Today is payroll day soooo, I won’t do much but that . Payroll day also includes something they call job costing. Everything on payroll has to be applied to the particular job the hours were spent on. That way we keep on track .

Thursday will have to be my get it all done day at work… I’m off on Friday.

We also got some light showers yesterday and may get more today. What a blessing that is. The grass, the flowers and the trees are probably saying their thank you’s too !

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

25 WORDS

God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me, and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name

TODAY IS…SIDEWALK FRYING DAY

Have you heard that old saying, "It's hot enough to fry an egg on the sidewalk!"? Well, it can definitely be done. If the temperature at your house gets up to 95 degrees F (that's 35 degrees C), the heat reflected off the cement will cook like your kitchen stove. At temperatures a bit lower, you just need to be creative. Use a mirror or a piece of aluminum foil to heat it up a notch. And one final hint: don't eat the final product

TODAY’S TRIVIA WIENERMOBILE DAY -The first Wienermobile rolled out of General Body Company’s factory in Chicago on this day in 1936. Today is Chrysanthemum Day

0064 - Rome burned on this day -- while Nero fiddled, literally. 1

927: Baseball's Ty Cobb hit safely for the 4,000th time in his career

1953: 18-year-old Elvis Presley recorded "My Happiness" at the Memphis Recording Service in Tennessee as a gift for his mother.

TODAY’S SMILE

Country Pearls Part 2

Don't sell your mule to buy a plow.

Two can live as cheap as one if one don't eat.

Don't corner something meaner than you.

You can catch more flies with honey than vinegar, assuming you want to catch flies.

Man is the only critter who feels the need to label things as flowers or weeds.

It don't take a very big person to carry a grudge.

Don't go huntin' with a fellow named Chug-A-Lug.

You can't unsay a cruel thing.

Every path has some puddles.

When you wallow with pigs, expect to get dirty.

The best sermons are lived, not preached.

Most of the stuff people worry about never happens.

Lazy and Quarrelsome are ugly sisters.

TODAY’S WORD

gallimaufry \gal-uh-MAW-free\, noun:

A medley; a hodgepodge.

Gallimaufry, originally meaning "a hash of various kinds of meats," comes from French galimafrée, from Old French, from galer, "to rejoice, to make merry" (source of English gala) + mafrer, "to eat much," from Medieval Dutch maffelen, "to open one's mouth wide."

TODAY’S REFLECTION

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.

Philippians 2:3-4

Today's scripture shows that selfishness has always been present. But Christ taught an upside-down lesson: "Love your neighbor as yourself." (Matthew 19:19).

Lord, help me to conquer any selfishness that lingers in my heart, so that I may honor you through loving others.

Amen.
