ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

JULY 15TH, 2007

TODAY'S THOUGHT

Never minimize your ability to think your way through any situation.

Dr. Norman Vincent Peale

TODAY’S ACTION

Resolve to improve one aspect of your life.

TODAY’S QUOTE

This is the beginning of a new day. You have been given this day to use as you will. You can waste it or use it for good. What you do today is important because you are exchanging a day of your life for it. When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever; in its place is something that you have left behind...let it be something good.

This will be another hot Sunday! We could have a chance of showers, but for sure rain is headed our way Tuesday they say…

TODAY’S SMILE

Everyone has that special someone in their life, someone who just seems to make everything better: The sun is warmer, the sky seems bluer, the grass looks greener, flowers couldn't be more beautiful; all because of that certain wonderful individual.

Yes, the whole world just seems better whenever that person is around. I guess there's no denying it... You are darned lucky to have a friend like Me

Frugal Tip for the Day

If you can't afford to buy gifts for loved ones and friends this year, use something other than money to create what you want. Give gifts of the heart.

GIFTS FROM THE EARTH

Grow small herb gardens in large pots or flats and provide instructions for the care and use of each herb. Start African violets from the leaves of your adult plants for Christmas giving.

Create small succulent or cactus gardens in pots using clippings from your plants.

Separate your most prized iris bulbs to give at Christmas.

Tip: color code the irises by tying them with ribbon in the same color as the bloom.

Plan ahead and can, freeze, or dehydrate fresh vegetables and fruits from your garden for yummy packages.

Tip: Collect interesting containers throughout the year to fill with your gift bulbs or produce.

This is truly amazing, especially when you watch the numbers change before your eyes for birth, death, abortion, temperature change, oil pumped, forest lost and more.

TODAY’S REFLECTION

See what large letters I make when I am writing in my own hand! It is those who want to make a good showing in the flesh that try to compel you to be circumcised - only that they may not be persecuted for the cross of Christ. Even the circumcised do not themselves obey the law, but they want you to be circumcised so that they may boast about your flesh. May I never boast of anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. For neither circumcision nor uncircumcision is anything; but a new creation is everything! As for those who will follow this rule -peace be upon them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.

Galatians 7:11-16

We separate from one another by every known characteristic or trait. For those considered to be the “in” crowd, life has perks.

Life for the “out” crowd is not much to be desired.

Building walls of privilege may keep people out of our lives, but the very wall we build cuts us off from life as God intended it. It takes a lot of energy to keep people out

Faith teaches us to focus our energy on following Jesus

Put your energy here and you will discover life as God intended life to be.

Fill my eyes with Your Word.

Fill my mouth with Your Word.

Fill all of me with Your Word.
