ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

SEPTEMBER 3RD, 2008

TODAY'S THOUGHT

Without the rich heart, wealth is an ugly beggar.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

TODAY’S ACTION

Recall the people who have profoundly influenced your life

TODAY’S QUOTE

Laziness is nothing more than resting before you get tired.

Jules Renard

HAPPY WEDNESDAY !!

OVER THE HUMP DAY

Once again it’s time to get up early, sip the good coffee and get off to work. Even though I had a 4 day weekend, I’m still not really ready for it. I think I could take a couple of years off and still not get bored.

It was a blessing to know that DS#2 made it through the hurricane safe and sound. Now it looks like I’ll be praying for DS#4 and family as another hurricane comes to the U.S. They are not close to the shore but they could have other side effects from it. Hopefully they’ll get the much needed rain and not much else.

May the good Lord calm the storms and make this a short hurricane season.

This work week will be a short one. The only thing on the calendar for this week after work is Thursday night Bible study and then I’m off to the camper again after work on Friday.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

TODAY’S PRAYERS

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

GOD BLESS YOU !

25 WORDS

God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me, and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name

TO REMEMBER…

I am in the hands of God, and in God’s time all things will be made well.

TODAY IS…LOST DAYS DAY

When England dropped the Julian Calendar to use the Gregorian Calendar, they had to lose 10 days to make the shift. These 10 days were September 3rd thru Septmeber 14th. People rioted in the streets. They thought the government stole 11 days of their lives and wanted them back. Not to worry...

TODAY’S SMILE

The “Good” Old Days

Comments You Don’t Hear Much Of Anymore . . .

Be sure and refill the ice trays, we are going to have company after while.

Watch for the postman, I want to get this letter in the mail today.

Quit slamming that screen door! Be sure to pull the windows down when you leave, it looks like it might shower – and bring in the clothes on the line, too.

Don't forget to wind the clock before you go to bed.

Wash your feet before you go to bed, they are nasty from playing barefooted outside all day.

Why can't you remember to roll up your pants legs? Getting them caught in the bicycle chain so many times is tearing them up.

You have torn the knees out of that pair of pants so many times there is nothing left to put a patch on.

Don't you go outside with your good school clothes on!

Hang up your Sunday School clothes, you know you need to pass them down to your brother in good condition.

Be sure and pour the cream off the top of the milk when you open the new bottle. I need it for baking and Pa's coffee.

Take that empty bottle to the store with you so you won't have to pay a deposit on another one.

Put a dish towel over the cake so the flies won't get on it.

Quit jumping on the floor! I have a cake in the oven and you are going to make it fall if you don't quit!

Let me know when the Fuller Brush man comes by, I need to get a few things from him.

You boys stay close by, the car may not start and I will need you to help push it off.

TODAY’S REFLECTION

After Jesus left the synagogue, he entered the house of Simon. Simon’s mother-in-law was afflicted with a severe fever, and they interceded with him about her. He stood over her, rebuked the fever, and it left her. She got up immediately and waited on them. At sunset, all who had people sick with various diseases brought them to him. He laid his hands on each of them and cured them. And demons also came out from many, shouting, “You are the Son of God.” But he rebuked them and did not allow them to speak because they knew that he was the Christ. At daybreak, Jesus left and went to a deserted place. The crowds went looking for him, and when they came to him, they tried to prevent him from leaving them. But he said to them, “To the other towns also I must proclaim the good news of the Kingdom of God, because for this purpose I have been sent.” And he was preaching in the synagogues of Judah Luke 4:38-44

It was a very busy day in Our Lord’s life. After curing the sick and preaching in the synagogue at Capernaum he went to Peter’s house where he cured Peter’s mother-in-law. The good lady then gave him and the apostles a meal. There followed more cures of the sick. At daylight, Jesus went off to pray. When they found him, the apostles wanted him to stay there but he went on to other towns. He knew he did not have much time in his earthly mission.

Do I try to do as much good as I can in my life now? Of course, I can’t work miracles, but I can use my gifts.

Dear Lord, teach me to be generous.
