ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

SEPTEMBER 23RD, 2008

TODAY'S THOUGHT

Nothing I say this day will teach me anything. So if I'm going to learn, I must do the listening.

Larry King

TODAY’S ACTION

Do all the good you can, By all the means you can, In all the ways you can, In all the places you can, At all the times you can, To all the people you can, As long as ever you can.

John Wesley

TODAY’S QUOTE

Everyone wants to be appreciated. So if you appreciate someone, don't keep it a secret.

Mary Kay Ash

HAPPY TUESDAY !!

Here we are again, sipping the good coffee and trying to wake up. It is supposed to be another warm sunny day here. I’ve gotten some of my fall clothing out, but most of it is too warm for me to wear today. The mornings are chilly though in the 50’s so you need an extra layer then.

I wanted to paint the signs I had for the fall festival over the weekend and couldn’t find them then. At work yesterday, I remembered I’d stuck them in the attic. So last evening I managed to get a base coat on them…maybe this evening I can do more. We still have several weeks til they will be needed.

I have tonight and tomorrow evening to get things together for the camper too. It seems I’m always busy doing some thing.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

TODAY’S PRAYERS

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL !

25 WORDS

God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me, and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name

TO REMEMBER…

I am in the hands of God, and in God’s time all things will be made well.

TODAY IS…PIANO PLAYERS DAY

The piano was invented by Bartolomeo Cristofori in Florence, Italy sometime around 1700 - and was originally called a "harpsichord that plays soft and loud." It was a keyboard instrument that produced a stronger sound than the clavichord and allowed for more artistic expression than the harpsichord or the organ. Today we celebrate the most popular instrument in the whole world - plus more than 20 million people who are pianists. This includes all of us who can only play chopsticks!

TODAY’S SMILE

Everything I Need To Know I Learned From the Bible

Happiness makes you smile;

A kind answer soothes angry feelings;

A true friend will keep a secret;

You will say the wrong thing if you talk too much;

Don't tell you neighbor to come back tomorrow, if you can help today;

Everyone likes to brag about getting a bargain;

Wise friends make you wise;

It's better to be honest and poor than to be dishonest and rich;

Telling lies will get you in trouble;

Don't give up;

Make your parents proud, especially your mother;

Watching what you say can save you a lot of trouble;

Respect and obey the Lord;

Don't tell everything you know;

Go looking for trouble, and you will find it;

Teach your children right from wrong, and when they are grown they will still do right;

Not getting what you want can make you feel sick;

The hungrier you are, the harder you work;

Don't try to get even;

All wisdom comes from the Lord, and so do common sense and understanding;

It's a dangerous thing to guarantee payment for someone's debts;

Don't say, 'I didn't know it!' God can read your mind;

Don't argue just to be arguing;

Obey the teaching of your parents;

Know where you are headed, and you will stay on solid ground;

Don't ever think that you are wise enough;

Share your plans with the Lord, and you will succeed.

When you read God's Word, you must constantly be saying to yourself, "It is talking to me, and about me."

Soren Kierkegaard

MAY YOU HAVE . . .

Enough happiness to keep you sweet

Enough trials to keep you strong

Enough sorrow to keep you human

Enough hope to keep you happy

Enough failure to keep you humble

Enough success to keep you eager

Enough friends to give you comfort

Enough wealth to meet your needs

Enough enthusiasm to look forward

Enough faith to banish depression

Enough determination to make each day better than yesterday.

TODAY’S WORD

undulate \UN-juh-layt; UN-dyuh-\, intransitive:

To move in, or have, waves; to vibrate; to wave; as, undulating air

Undulate derives from Latin undulare, from undula, a little wave, from unda, a wave

TODAY’S REFLECTION

The mother of Jesus and his brothers came to him but were unable to join him because of the crowd. He was told, “Your mother and your brothers are standing outside and they wish to see you.” He said to them in reply, “My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and act on it

Luke 8: 19-21

Here it seems Jesus calls us to be his family. When he gathered the apostles to travel the roads of Galilee, Judea and Samaria they shared all the highs and lows of family life. As our relationship with Jesus deepens, we come to relate to him as a brother, as well as a teacher and savior, so we feel a sense of being part of his family.

As this feeling continues, we want to follow the traditions and values of it; thus ‘doing the will of the Father’ becomes a way of life for us.
