ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

SEPTEMBER 15TH, 2008

TODAY'S THOUGHT

I am beginning to learn that it is the sweet, simple things of life which are the real ones after all.

Laura Ingalls Wilder

TODAY’S ACTION

Be bold in what you stand for and careful what you fall for.

Ruth Boorstin

TODAY’S QUOTE

We may miss a great deal of joy because we expect it to be unusual, dramatic and spectacular. We are waiting for lights to flash and bells to ring. But the truth is that joy is here, right now, waiting for us to notice it.

Veronica Ray

HAPPY MONDAY !

I hope you all made it through the heavy winds we had yesterday with not too much damage. My house moaned a groaned a bit with all the wind, but all seems to be ok.

DS#1 said his neighbors were loosing shingles and he lost some flashing from his house and was without power for some time.

Today should be much cooler. The weather man says high in the 60’s and a little more rain. That is not a great way to start the week, but we just have to be thankful because as we all know it could be worse.

The weather channel had to be one of the most watched channels over the weekend as every one was concerned about what was happening with the hurricane. It’s hard to believe we actually felt some of the wind from it.

On the calendar this week I will have my monthly dulcimer get together with my friends on Tuesday and then I’ll have Friday off as a vacation day. If the weather is nice I’ll leave for the camper Thursday after work, if not, I’ll wait and go on Friday morning. Other than that it looks to be a quiet week.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

TODAY’S PRAYERS

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

GOD BLESS YOU ! 2

5 WORDS

God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me, and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name

TO REMEMBER…

I am in the hands of God, and in God’s time all things will be made well.

TODAY IS… CHICKEN LOVERS DAY

Chickens are descended from the wild red jungle fowl of India. They have been domesticated for at least 4,000 years. But, it wasn't until the 1800's that they became a mass-producted commodity for our dining room tables. In honor of Chicken Day... chickens want you to EAT MORE BEEF!

TODAY’S SMILE AN ARTISTIC

PERSONALITY TEST (Just for fun.)

On a blank piece of paper draw a pig. It spoils it if you scroll all the way down before sketching. You must not scroll down until you draw your picture. no cheating, now. you will find this more interesting if you draw your picture first!

So, on a blank piece of paper draw a pig. Then scroll down and read the interpretation of your pig!! C'mon, Draw your pig first! And don't look at the next part until you are done! It won't be fun if you look first.

The pig serves as a useful test of the personality traits of the drawer.

If the pig is drawn:

TOWARD THE TOP of the paper, you are positive and optimistic.

TOWARD THE MIDDLE, you are a realist.

TOWARD THE BOTTOM, you are pessimistic, and have a tendency to behave negatively.

FACING LEFT, you believe in tradition, are friendly, and remember dates (birthdays, etc.)

FACING RIGHT, you are innovative and active, but don't have a strong sense of family, nor do you remember dates.

FACING FRONT (looking at you), you are direct, enjoy playing devil's advocate and neither fear nor avoid discussions.

With MANY DETAILS, you are analytical, cautious, and distrustful.

With FEW DETAILS, you are emotional and naive, you care little for details and are a risk taker.

With LESS THAN 4 LEGS SHOWING, you are insecure or are living through a period of major change.

With 4 LEGS SHOWING, you are secure, stubborn, and stick to your ideals.

The SIZE OF THE EARS indicates how good a listener you are. The bigger the better.

TODAY’S WORD

evanescent \ev-uh-NES-unt\, adjective:

Liable to vanish or pass away like vapor; fleeting

Evanescent is from Latin evanescere, "to vanish," from e-, "from, out of" + vanescere, "to disappear," from vanus, "empty

TODAY’S REFLECTION

Moses said to the Lord, "Now show me your glory."

Exodus 33:18

Moses was a brave leader, a committed follower of God, but he was weary. Although he knew that God was with him, he needed reassurance. We have likely been through periods in our lives when we believed God was there, but we needed reassurance because our experience didn't make us sure of God's presence. In disappointment, grief, or anxiety about a decision to be made, we long to see God.

Like Moses, we can ask, pouring out our need to see and to know God's presence in our lives. Moses models for us boldness in unashamed, honest prayer. God heard Moses and responded, and God will do the same for us. Reassurance may come through the love of a friend, the beauty of the natural world, a song on the radio, or an unexpected call that encourages us.
