ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

SEPTEMBER 5TH, 2008

TODAY'S THOUGHT

Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.

Mahatma Gandhi

TODAY’S ACTION

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you've imagined.

Thoreau

TODAY’S QUOTE

There is no cosmetic for beauty like happiness.

Countess of Blessington

HAPPY FRIDAY !!

This short work week is just about over and I’ll head for the campground once more right after work today. The beagle loves to go and he’ll be waiting for me to pick him up and hit the road. Riding in the car is one of his favorite things.

I have been counting down the weeks and there are just 8 weekends of camping left. My poor house will be glad when I’m once again home on weekends, but it’ll be a major adjustment for me.

At the end of October I’ll start counting the weeks until the next camping season begins.

I do hope your weekend will be a good one. We do have to take advantage of the nice weather while we still have it. The good Lord willing and the creek don’t rise; I’ll see you all on Monday morning with my newsletter.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

TODAY’S PRAYERS

I received a prayer request from DDIL#6’s Mom asking for prayers for her uncle who had surgery and was out of intensive care and now they are taking him back. Please pray for healing and a speedy recovery for him.

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

25 WORDS

God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me, and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name

TO REMEMBER…

I am in the hands of God, and in God’s time all things will be made well.

TODAY IS…CHEEZE PIZZA DAY

Cheese Pizza Day is a day to chow down with one of America's favorite meals. Pizza is a favorite of young and old. Originating from Italian cuisine, it's a staple in the American diet. For many American families "Pizza night" is a Friday or Saturday routine. It's also popular at parties. You can have Cheese Pizza anyway you want. There's thin or thick crust. Extra cheese is the "norm" for many cheese pizza lovers. To celebrate Cheese Pizza Day, just order a cheese pizza. Or, make a homemade cheese pizza. If you decide you just have to add other toppings, its okay. We won't tell.

Have a happy Cheese Pizza Day!

TODAY’S SMILE

Common advice from knowledgeable horse trainers includes the adage, ‘When the horse dies, dismount.'

Seems simple enough. Yet, . . . we don't always follow that advice.

Instead we often choose from an array of other alternatives which include:

buying a stronger whip; trying a new bit or bridle; switching riders;

moving the horse to a new location;

riding the horse for longer periods of time;

saying things like,

‘This is the way we've always ridden this horse;'

appointing a committee to study the horse;

arranging to visit other sites where they ride dead horses more efficiently;

increasing the standards for riding a dead horse;

creating a test for measuring our riding ability;

comparing how we're riding now with how we rode 10 or 20 years ago;

complaining about the state of horses these days;

coming up with new styles of riding;

blaming the horse's parents (the problem is often in the breeding);

and tightening the cinch.

TODAY’S WORD

immolate \IM-uh-layt\, transitive verb:

1. To sacrifice; to offer in sacrifice; to kill as a sacrificial victim.

2. To kill or destroy, often by fire

Immolate comes from the past participle of Latin immolare, "to sacrifice; originally, to sprinkle a victim with sacrificial meal," from in- + mola, "grits or grains of spelt coarsely ground and mixed with salt

TODAY’S REFLECTION

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it.

John 1:5

Until recent times, the night has been viewed as somewhat hostile. Why? The absence of light. Walking in the dark is a fearful experience. At night thieves and murderers ply their trade.

At night the drug dealers and the merchants in human flesh do their thing. "Early to bed and early to rise..." is the ancient wisdom. Now days we are surrounded by artificial light In the centuries in which the Bible was written, people knew the meaning of darkness.

Thus when Biblical writers proclaimed that the people who walked in darkness have seen a great light, they were speaking of something vivid, dramatic, hopeful It isn't easy to live in darkness, and it isn't easy to live without Christ.
