HAPPY FRIDAY !!
It was a long work week and my Friday looks like a long day as there is little to do in the office. I twiddled my thumbs more than once yesterday. I’m thinking its going to be a very long winter at this rate.
I have a visitor coming in today that will be going camping with me. DS#4 had to come up for work so he’s going with me for the weekend as he has Saturday and Sunday free. If I remember right it rained when they came up for vacation and that’s what it’s supposed to do this weekend. I have my raincoat and boots at the camper so I’m prepared, hopefully that will scare the rain away.
DD and her hubby are traveling this weekend to go to his family reunion so I’ll be praying for a safe trip for them.
Take good care all !
Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !
TODAY’S PRAYERS
Pray for those in the path of Hurricane Ike as it moves across the Gulf of Mexico following a devastating impact on Cuba and Turks and Caicos where it left more than 170 dead. Pray for the people of those nations as they recover and rebuild, and pray for those left homeless
Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
GOD BLESS YOU!
25 WORDS
God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me, and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name
TO REMEMBER… I am in the hands of God, and in God’s time all things will be made well.

TODAY’S TRIVIA
Birthday of the Great Seal of the United States - The Great Seal was first used on this day in 1782
1954 - Lassie was seen on CBS-TV for the first time. Despite being called “girl” by Jeff Miller, who starred as Tommy, and Jan Clayton, who starred as Jeff's mom, Ellen, Lassie was, in reality, a male dog. In fact, there were more than a half-dozen Lassie dogs doing stunts. Lassie ran on CBS for exactly 17 years. The last show aired on September 12, 1971
1959: "Bonanza" premieres on NBC and ran through 1973
1991: The space shuttle Discovery blasted off on a mission to deploy an observatory designed to study the Earth's ozone layer
TODAY’S SMILE
The two-year-old patient's complaint was a common summer difficulty. He had a cherry pit stuffed up his nostril. The mother explained that she had already tried tweezers in an attempt to remove the pit but only succeeded in pushing it farther up her son's nose.
I realized our emergency equipment was unsuitable for a comfortable removal of the object. But I'd been taught early on in medical school that a paper clip bent in a particular position, and then curved slightly, could be looped behind a pit to extract it from the nose.
Finding a large clip, I bent it accordingly and managed to extract the object. The mother looked at me and smiled. That's why I came to the hospital--access to high-tech equipment

TODAY’S REFLECTION
You Philippians indeed know that in the early days of the gospel, when I left Macedonia, no church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving, except you alone.
Philippians 4:15
What makes a saint a saint. Paul thought the people in the Philippian church were saints, because they were giving people. Paul says, in our scripture reading today, "You Philippians indeed know that in the early days of the gospel, when I left Macedonia, no church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving, except you alone."
One of the important trade marks of a saint is one who gives. Are we always good givers? Most of the time we are good givers. Jesus once said, "If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him!" We know how to give good things to our children, so we should also be good gives of all that God has entrusted us with.
How do we view ourselves? Can we believe that God created us to be saints, but because of our humanness occasionally sin? Paul knew the people in the early church were not perfect, but he still referred to them as saints. Paul says, "Greet every saint in Christ Jesus." What you do doesn't determine who you are; who you are determines what you do.
