ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

SEPTEMBER 11TH, 2008

TODAY'S THOUGHT

We must not, in trying to think about how we can make a big difference, ignore the small daily differences we can make which, over time, add up to big differences that we often cannot foresee.

Marian Wright Edelman

TODAY’S ACTION

Be bold in what you stand for and careful what you fall for.

Ruth Boorstin

TODAY’S QUOTE

Blessed is the person who is too busy to worry in the daytime and too sleepy to worry at night.

Unknown

HAPPY THURSDAY !!

And HAPPY ANIVERSARY TO DS#1 AND HIS WIFE!

May the dear Lord bless you both today and always !

In my trivia for today it says it is DO IMPORTANT THINGS DAY. On the anniversary of the worst terror attack of our time I hope you all do just that. Things like smiling, laughter, hugs, kisses are just a few important things we shouldn’t forget to do.

We do not know what tomorrow could bring so today we do the important things just to make sure they get done. It is good to be aware of our surroundings and it’s good to have just enough fear to be on the lookout, but we cannot be worrying our selves over what could happen…Living one day at a time is the best way I’ve found.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

TODAY’S PRAYERS

Prayer in Remembrance of 911

God of the ages, before your eyes all empires rise and fall yet you are changeless. Be near us in this age of terror and in these moments of remembrance. Uphold those who work and watch and wait and weep and love. By your Spirit give rise in us to broad sympathy for all the peoples of your earth. Strengthen us to comfort those who mourn and work in large ways and small for those things that make for peace. Bless the people and leaders of this nation and all nations so that warfare, like slavery before it, may become only a historic memory. We pray in the strong name of the Prince of Peace. Amen

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

GOD BLESS YOU !

25 WORDS

God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me, and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name

TO REMEMBER…

I am in the hands of God, and in God’s time all things will be made well.

TODAY IS… Patriot Day

On September 11, 2001 two planes crashed into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York. A third plane crashed into the Pentagon and a fourth into a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Nearly 3000 people died and the skyline of New York was changed forever in the most deadly terrorist attack on United States soil. On the same date in 2002 and every year since then, the American president has proclaimed a day of remembrance. Many Americans refer to Patriot Day as 9/11 or September 11.

TODAY’S TRIVIA

TODAY’S SMILE

We convince ourselves that life will be better after we get married, have a baby, then another. Then we are frustrated that the kids aren't old enough and we'll be more content when they are. After that, we're frustrated that we have teenagers to deal with. We will certainly be happy when they are out of that stage. We tell ourselves that our life will be complete when our spouse gets his or her act together, when we get a nicer car, are we able to go on a nice vacation, or when we retire. The truth is, there's no better time to be happy than right now. If not now, when? Your life will always be filled with challenges. It's best to admit this to yourself and decide to be happy anyway. Happiness is the way. So, treasure every moment that you have and treasure it more because you shared it with someone special, special enough to spend your time with...and remember that time waits for no one.

So, stop waiting . . .

. . . until your car or home is paid off

. . . until you get a new car or home

. . . until your kids leave the house

. . . until you go back to school

. . . until you finish school

. . . until you lose 10 lbs

. . . . until you gain 10 lbs

. . . . until you get married

. . . until you get a divorce

. . . until you have kids

. . . until you retire

. . . until summer

. . . until spring

. . . until winter

. . . until fall

. . . until you die

There is no better time than right now to be happy. Happiness is a journey, not a destination. So, work like you don't need money, Love like you've never been hurt, And dance like no one's watching.

TODAY’S WORD

moil \MOYL\, intransitive verb:

1. To work with painful effort; to labor; to toil; to drudge.

2. To churn or swirl about continuously.

noun:

1. Toil; hard work; drudgery.

2. Confusion; turmoil.

Moil comes from Middle English moillen, "to soak, to wet," hence "to soil, to soil one's hands, to work very hard," from Old French moillier, "to soften, especially by making wet," ultimately from Latin mollis, soft

TODAY’S REFLECTION

The Lord himself will go before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forget you. Don't be afraid and don't worry.

Deuteronomy 31:8

If we can come to grips with the reality that we are secure in Christ ... we'll realize that nothing of a temporal nature will ever meet this very real need for security. There's no reason to "do" or to "acquire" for the sake of security, because the need has already been met.

What I would call the "temporal toys" will never satisfy anyway. Knowing we're secure can also solve the problem of discontent by freeing us to choose to be content.
