ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

 NOVEMBER 24th, 2005

TODAY'S THOUGHT

God's heavens are dotted

with uncounted jewels,

For joy without measure

is one of God's rules.

His hand is so generous,

His heart is so great,

He comes not too soon,

and He comes not too late

TODAY'S ACTION

Today realize that God needs no alarm clocks, wristwatches, or timers.

HAPPY 'THANKFULLY ' THURSDAY!

AND HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

With a very thankful and humble heart I wish you all a very blessed day!

I am counting my blessings and praising God for them!

I am going to watch the Thanksgiving Day parade on TV, and stay in my pj's all day. As you all know I did Thanksgiving last Saturday, so today is a day of R&R for me.

Oh, I will probably work on my Christmas crafts, but that is not really work - pure pleasure.

I hope you all have a great day !

Another wonderful one on the Way !

TODAY IS...NATIVE AMERICAN DAY

In recognition of the significant contributions the first Americans have made to the establishment and growth of our Nation.

TODAY'S TRIVIA

Today is Thanksgiving Day in the U.S., by presidential proclamation. Thanksgiving was observed throughout New England as a religious holiday even before the American Revolution. Then it spread to the middle states and the West, and finally to the South after the Civil War

The Daytona Turkey Run begins today. It's a car show for models 1980 and older

1835: The Texas Provincial Government authorized a national mounted police force to be known as the Texas Rangers

1937 - Music from the Raymor Ballroom in Boston, Massachusetts was beamed coast to coast on NBC radio. The special guests during this broadcast were Glenn Miller and his orchestra

1958 - Harold Jenkins, who changed his name to Conway Twitty, got his first #1 hit on this day. It's Only Make Believe was the most popular song in the U.S. for one week

1986 - The American Eagle silver dollar, like its gold counterpart, became all the rage on this, its first day of issue -- by selling out. An additional 250,000 coins were also ordered this day by coin dealers

1998: America Online confirmed it was buying Netscape Communications in a deal ultimately worth $10 billion

Those were the days, my friend. We thought they'd never end

TODAY'S SMILE

Signs that you are not reading your Bible enough:

10) The Preacher announces the sermon is from Galatians....and you check the table of contents.

9) You think Abraham, Isaac & Jacob may have had a few hits during the 60's.

8) You open to the Gospel of Luke and a WWII Savings Bond falls out.

7) Your favorite Old Testament Patriarch is Hercules.

6) A small family of woodchucks has taken up residence in the Psalms.

5) You become frustrated because Charlton Heston isn't listed in either the Concordance or the Table of Contents.

4) Catching the kids reading the Song of Solomon, you demand: "Who gave you this trash?"

3) You think the Minor Prophets worked in the quarries.

2) You keep falling for it every time when Pastor tells you to turn to First Condominiums.

And finally, the number one sign that you may not be reading your Bible enough:

The kids keep asking too many questions about your usual bedtime story: Jonah the Shepherd Boy and His Ark of Many Colors. You can't figure out what makes them laugh!

TODAY'S REFLECTION

Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you

 Matthew 7:7

Jesus taught by word and example how important he considered prayer. We pray, knowing that God hears and answers our prayers. But we also pray with the mind of Christ, aware that God is all-powerful and all seeing. He knows what is best for each of us and answers our prayer in a way that will best benefit us.

It may not be the answer we expect or hope for, but if we are patient and have faith that God wants the best for us, we will eventually be blessed because of our prayers
