TODAY'S QUOTE

We rob our own lives much more than we know

When we fail to respond or in any way show

Our thanks for the blessings that are daily ours—

The warmth of the sun, the fragrance of flowers

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way!

TODAY IS...SADIE HAWKINS DAY

Sadie Hawkins Day is an American folk event created by Al Capp in 1937 for the Li'l Abner comic strip. Sadie Hawkins was "the homeliest gal in the hills" who grew tired of waiting for the fellows to come a courtin'. Her father set up a foot race so the unmarried gals could chase the bachelors.

You can get the whole story on the official Li'l Abner site:

HARVEST HOME

In Europe and Britain, the conclusion of the harvest each autumn was once marked by great festivals of fun, feasting, and thanksgiving known as “Harvest Home.” It was also a time to hold elections, pay workers, and collect rents. These festivals usually took place around the time of the autumnal equinox. Certain ethnic groups in this country, particularly the Pennsylvania Dutch, have kept the tradition alive

TODAY'S REFLECTION

Incline my heart to Your testimonies and not to covetousness. Turn away my eyes from looking at worthless things, and revive me in Your way

Psalm 119:36-37

The psalmist is praying for the Lord to help him turn his eyes away from worthless desires, many of which result from jealousy

See jealousy for what it is. Recognize jealousy instead of complaining of your inadequacies..

Turn it into positive energy.

Allow another's success to spur you on to greater things..

Love the life you have.

Look at the blessings in your life.

Relax and enjoy them.

Mary Ann O’Roark
