ADVENT PRAYER

Our ships sail guided by fluctuating priorities, goals often missed. We walk in a world touched by despair, among rudderless people.

Give us hope and we will be filled with your purpose.

Pain from the land of Long Ago presses its burden deep upon our backs. We live in a world shaken by discontent, disharmony, disregard.

Give us peace that we may offer your Shalom.

Mirrors reflect likenesses that we have created, a far cry from the image of God. We dwell amid those with a diminished reverence for that which grows and breathes.

Give us life and we will call on your name.

Call our names and we will turn God-ward, confident that you will be our compass, relieve our burdens, and restore our images

Today play a Christmas CD or Record and sing out loud. It really doesn't matter if you sing off key or not

Why not make time today to watch an old Christmas movie. Here are some favorites that you can watch: White Christmas, A Miracle on 34th Street or A Christmas Carol. You can all gather as a family and watch the movie every year from now on. Make this a family tradition

HAPPY MONDAY!!

I feel so good this morning and I know it’s due to having a nice long weekend. During the work week I tend to not get enough sleep and then feel drug out, so maybe I can get to bed a little earlier from now on.

We are having a reprieve from winter for a few days and the snow is now history. I know it will be back, so I’ll just enjoy the few days we have.

The house looks like it's been turned upside down and I now have just 3 weeks to get it in order again. Our Christmas family get together will be the Saturday before the Christmas weekend. I guess it will happen whether I'm ready or not, but it would be a little more enjoyable, if I can get it all done.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

TODAY IS...INSTANT CAMERA DAY

Ok, who knows why they are called Land cameras? And, no, it's not because they don't work underwater. They are named after Edwin Land, the man who invented the process of instant photography.

Edwin Herbert Land was an American inventor and industrialist born in Bridgeport, Conn. He became interested in POLARIZED LIGHT and invented a material to eliminate glare in 1932. This is now known by the trademark Polaroid. In 1937, he established the Polaroid Corp. to manufacture sunglasses, camera filters, and headlights. He developed a process for three-dimensional pictures in 1941, invented the polaroid camera in 1947 and introduced instant color photographs in 1963.

TODAY'S SMILE

Three people present themselves at the pearly gates and St Peter is waiting for them. The first one is a nurse. I've dedicated myself to helping others, I always worked night shifts and holidays because that was where I was needed. St. Peter lets him in. The second person comes up and says, I dedicated my life to research. I came very close to a cure for cancer but I died too soon. I know the next generation will be able to finish the work I started. St. Peter agrees and lets him in. The third person presents to St. Peter. I spent my life working in the health insurance industry. St. Peter tells him, Please enter the gates and join us brother... but you can only stay four days...

TODAY'S REFLECTION

You are like a letter written by Christ and delivered by us. But you are not written with pen and ink or on tablets made of stone. You are written in our hearts by the Spirit of the living God.

 II Corinthians 3:3

The apostle Paul is trying to impress upon the members of the church in Corinth that they are living letters. They are read by everyone with whom they interact, whether for good or bad.

Discouraged people don't need critics.

They hurt enough already.

They don't need more guilt or piled-on distress.

They need encouragement.

 They need a refuge:

a willing, caring, available someone
