ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

JULY 15TH, 2008

 TODAY'S THOUGHT

The process of learning requires not only hearing and applying, But also forgetting and then remembering again.

John Gray

TODAY’S ACTION

Wherever you go, go with all of your heart

TODAY’S QUOTE

The moment when you first wake up in the morning is the most wonderful of the twenty-four hours. No matter how weary or dreary you may feel, you possess the certainty that, during the day that lies before you, absolutely anything may happen.

Monica Baldwin

HAPPY TUESDAY !!

Lots of excitement at my house Monday evening. My beagle has sniffed out a skunk living under/behind my back steps. He kept sniffing there when I got home Sunday evening and in the morning before I left for work too and then Monday evening when I got home, he just wouldn’t leave the steps…so my nextdoor sister suggested she spray the hose behind the steps and see what came out…a skunk came out .

We immediately evacuated the area and were lucky not to be sprayed. Today the pest control will come and set traps. Hopefully the pest will be caught and gotten rid of. My dog may be old, but his nose still works very well.

It was a beautiful sunny almost perfect day yesterday and it’s supposed to be another one today. Already this coming Saturday and Sunday has a chance of rain in the forecast. I’d better plan on taking lots of books to the camper.

DS#5 and his wife leave for their trip today. I’ll be praying for a safe and happy journey for them.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

TODAY’S PRAYERS Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

GOD BLESS YOU !

25 WORDS

God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me, and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name

TO REMEMBER…

I am in the hands of God, and in God’s time all things will be made well.

TODAY IS…

WINNIE THE POOH DAY

A.A. Milne went to school in London where one of his teachers was H.G. Wells. They shared a love of books and became close friends in later years when they were both authors. Milne was a newspaper writer early in his career, but published several books before he married. His son, Christopher, was born in 1920. Winnie the Pooh was written for this son and inspired by the toys in his nursery

TODAY’S TRIVIA

St. Swithin’s Day. Sometime in the late 800s-900s, there lived a man named Swithun or Swithin. He was the Bishop of Winchester in Old England. For some unknown reason - since Bishop Swithin was not particularly famous - his remains were transferred to Winchester Cathedral on this day in 971. It so happened that there was a heavy rainfall on this same day. Some say Bishop Swithin was angry about the move and caused the downpour. From then on, according to an old English adage, if it should rain on July 15th, it will rain for forty days thereafter. St. Swithin’s day, gif ye do rain, for forty days it will remain; St. Swithin’s day, an ye be fair, for forty days ’twill rain nae mair.

1960 - The New York World-Telegram reported that the average white-collar worker would earn a lifetime income of $200,000 (forty years at $5,000 per year).

1965 - The Mariner IV spacecraft sent back the first close-up pictures of the planet Mars.

TODAY’S SMILE ONE FOR MY BOYS

A guy comes into a coffee shop and places his order. He says: "I want three flat tires, a pair of headlights, and a pair of running boards." The waitress, not wanting to appear stupid, goes to the kitchen and says to the cook. "This guy out there just ordered three flat tires, a pair of headlights and a pair of running boards. What does he think this is, an auto parts store?"

"No" the cook says. "Three flat tires means three pancakes, a pair of headlights is two eggs sunny side up, and running boards is 2 slices crisp bacon." "Oh," says the waitress. The waitress thinks about this and then she spoons up a bowl of beans and gives it to the customer.

The guy says, "What are the beans for?" The waitress replies, "I thought while you were waiting for the flat tires, headlights and running boards, you might want to gas up."

TODAY’S WORD

cupidity \kyoo-PID-uh-tee\, noun: Eager or excessive desire, especially for wealth; greed; avarice

Cupidity ultimately comes from Latin cupiditas, from cupidus, "desirous," from cupere, "to desire." It is related to Cupid, the Roman god of love

TODAY’S REFLECTION

For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return there until they have watered the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall notreturn to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and succeed in the thing for which I sent it.

Isaiah 55:10-11

Within each one of us is the seed for righteous living. God plants that seed within us and provides rich soil in which it can grow. But it is up to us to tend this seed and the growth that results. Take this time today to give attention to the good gift which is growing in you

It’s not unusual for a summer thunderstorm to interrupt a day or two (or ten) of summer activities. The rains not only provide the earth a much-needed drink of water; they usually cool the temperature considerably. And there’s always that wonderful after-the-thunderstorm smell. Do you realize the wonders that happen through a summer storm?

Just as summer thunderstorms serve a purpose, your work and play, creation and recreation serve a purpose. Summer is a time to become re-energized in body and spirit. It’s also a time for God’s incredible light to shine through incredible you!

He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. The Apostle Paul http://www.d365.org
