ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

JULY 11TH, 2008

TODAY'S THOUGHT

Each small task of everyday life is part of the total harmony of the universe.

St. Theresa of Lisieux

TODAY’S ACTION

As you go about your day, why not pick up the trash on the sidewalk?

TODAY’S QUOTE

God gave each of us a brilliant light, love, and joy that burns within our souls. It is up to us though to choose it, nourish it, and then share it with the world. May your light always glow as bright as a sunbeam.

Joseph J. Mazzella

HAPPY FRIDAY !!

And HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO DD AND HER HUBBY!

(It is really tomorrow but I won’t be here to send good wishes their way) May the dear Lord bless you both always!

The date says it is 7/11 and those are supposed to be lucky numbers so maybe this will be a lucky kind of day. I’m really not superstitious and consider every day to be special. It’s just that sometimes the day doesn’t seem to bring very special things my way. I guess I don’t look hard enough.

Next week DS#5 and his wife will be leaving on a trip with his Art Club to Europe. I’ll be praying for a safe trip for them all and hope they enjoy all the sights they’ll be seeing. It would be such a treat to see all the things I’ve only read about. I’m sure they’ll have lots of tales to tell when they get back home.

I spoke too soon when I said the weather looked great…the next two days forecast now includes rain.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

TODAY’S PRAYERS

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

GOD BLESS YOU!

25 WORDS

God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me, and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name

TO REMEMBER…

I am in the hands of God, and in God’s time all things will be made well.

TODAY IS…TRY CAVIAR DAY

Anyway you look at it, the word "caviar" still means fish eggs. They are washed, and then processed with salt to preserve them until eaten. This is a gourmet treat that's delicious, nutritious and... expensive. Best served on toast points, they should be garnished with finely chopped onion, hard boiled eggs and dill or capers. Caviar is also good for preventing hangovers, but it's much cheaper to just drink some cod liver oil

TODAY’S SMILE

There were two farmers. One loved his Bible, reverenced the Sabbath, loved his Creator, and believed that He was a prayer-hearing and answering Father. The other was an infidel, regarding all days alike; he plowed, sowed, reaped, and labored on the seventh the same as on the other six days.

When the harvesting was over, and the grain had all been gathered into barns, the infidel’s crop was found to be by far the largest, a hailstorm having visited his friend’s farm, destroying the greater part of his grain. “How now, neighbor Brown?” said the infidel, wishing to turn the joke upon his friend; “you kept the Sabbath, and what have you gained? An empty barn. I have worked on each day of the week alike, and see the result!” and he waved his hand toward his large and well-filled barn.

His neighbor quietly replied, “Friend Gray, God does not settle all His accounts in October.”

TODAY’S WORD

emolument \ih-MOL-yuh-muhnt\, noun:

The wages or perquisites arising from office, employment, or labor; gain; compensation

Emolument derives from Latin emolumentum, originally a sum paid to a miller for grinding out one's wheat, from molere, "to grind." It is related to molar, the "grinding" tooth

TODAY’S REFLECTION

O Lord, God of our fathers, are you not the God who is in heaven? 2 Chronicles 20:6

King Jehoshaphat was confronted by a formidable enemy and it looked as if there was no way of escape.

In his prayer, the king posed the question, "Are you not the God who is in heaven?"

Lord, thank you for faithfully standing with us in difficult times. We praise you for who you are. Amen

Every evening I turn my worries over to God. He is going to be up all night anyway
