ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

JUNE 6TH, 2007

TODAY'S THOUGHT

It is by believing in roses that one brings them to bloom.

French Proverb

TODAY’S ACTION

Don't waste energy in the wrong areas on the wrong things.

TODAY’S QUOTE

Coming together is a beginning,

Staying together is progress,

Working together is success.

Henry Ford

HAPPY WEDNESDAY!

It’s over the Hump Day!

Yesterday it drizzled rain all day long. It really did get cooler too. Lucky for me I hadn’t put the flannels away yet, so I was snug and warm.

Today the sun is supposed to return and it’ll be one of those perfect kind of days. Of course I’ll be inside looking out, but just the same after several days of rain, the sunshine will be a nice relief.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need.

I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

25 WORDS

God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me, and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name

TODAY IS…BIG RIVER DAY!

Down through history, rivers determined where people lived, what they ate and what they drank. Poets have written about their mystery and magic, but their contribution to our planet is providing fresh water for all living things. They have also carved out the landscape we know today. Just think of the Colorado cutting out the Grand Canyon! And what's the largest river in the world? Yes, it's Cleopatra's favorite barge trip, the Nile!

TODAY’S TRIVIA

Today is National Yo-Yo Day, marking the birthdate of businessman Donald F. Duncan Sr., who manufactured the popular "Duncan Yo-Yo" in the early 1900s.

Today is the anniversary of D-Day. In 1944, before dawn, 2,727 ships of every description converged on Normandy, carrying 2-million tons of war materials, including tanks, armored cars, trucks, jeeps and half-tracks and 155,000 fighting men the first day.

Today is National Gardening Exercise Day.

1882: Henry W. Seely of New York City patented the electric iron.

1933: Richard Hollingshead opened the world’s first drive-in movie on 10 acres off Wilson Boulevard in Camden, New Jersey. The screen was 40 by 30 feet. Admission was 25 cents per car plus another quarter for each passenger.

1960: Roy Orbison released "Only the Lonely."

TODAY’S SMILE

The story is told of a farmer who was known for his generous giving, and whose friends could not understand how he could give so much and yet remain so prosperous.

One day a friend said: "We can't understand it. You give far more than any of the rest of us, and yet you always seem to have more to give." "That's easy to explain," the farmer said. "I keep shoveling into God's bin, and God keeps shoveling back into mine, and God has the bigger shovel."

His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!

Matthew 25:23

TODAY’S WORD

testate (TES-tayt) adjective

Having made a legally valid will. From Latin testatus (witnessed), from testari (to bear witness or to make a will). Ultimately from the Indo-European root trei- (three) that's also the source of such words as three, testify (to be the third person: to bear witness), and triskaidekaphobia (fear of the number 13)

TODAY’S REFLECTION

Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don't be afraid, you are worth more than many sparrows

Luke 12:7

You are very important to God. Jesus told his disciples that even the unimportant little sparrows are not forgotten by God. Do you see how special you are, when God even knows whether you are bald or have a full head of hair; whether you are a blonde, brunette or redhead?

Like every individual snowflake, so are you a unique creation. You cannot always control the things that happen to you, but you do have control over how you react to these events. You can choose between hope and despair. Avoid letting anxiety and depression hold you back. You are a unique individual who can make a difference in this world, when you trust God and do your best.
