TODAY’S QUOTE

God doesn’t always still the storm, but he can calm the sailor.

HAPPY FRIDAY!

Here we are the end of another work week. I fear it will be a long day at work today as one of my bosses is taking a vacation day. I never know if the other one will be in or not. We’ll see…

After work this evening I go with DS#5 and his wife to visit with DS#1 And DS#4 and their families who are vacationing at Cedar Point this weekend. It’s only about 45 minutes away, so we’ll drive over and visit with them for awhile. We’ll be praying for nice weather for our vacationers. (of course we’ve got a chance of thunderstorms today too)

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

25 WORDS

God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me, and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name

TODAY IS…SHOO FLY PIE DAY

Shoo fly pie comes to us from our German and Pennsylvania Dutch ancestors. It's a molasses pie that has a wet bottom, cake-like middle, and crumb topping. People used to place the pies in their kitchen windows to cool. The molasses attracted lots of flies, so they were always saying... "Shoo Fly!". They also used to eat this pie for breakfast.

1 8" unbaked pie shell

Topping:

1 1/2 C flour

 1/2 C sugar

1 tsp. baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

1/4 C shortening

Bottom: 1/2 C Brer Rabbit molasses (orange label, mild flavor)

1/2 C. boiling water

 1/2 tsp. baking soda

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).

2. Mix all topping ingredients together, squeezing and crumbling to make crumbs the size of small peas. Set aside.

3. In another bowl, dissolve baking soda in boiling water. Add molasses. Stir well.

4. Pour into unbaked pie shell & add crumb topping. DO NOT BLEND THE TOPPING WITH THE MOLASSES MIXTURE.

5. Bake at 400 degrees F for 15 minutes; then at 350 degrees F for 35 minutes. Pie will keep well in the fridge for a week, or it can be frozen.

TODAY’S SMILE

A distraught dog owner called a vet pleading for an immediate appointment. He explained that his dog had a large growth or swelling near the corner of its mouth that had appeared to grow overnight, so I told him to bring the animal over.

When the man came in with his dog, the vet examined the animal as the man stood by, anxiously waiting the vet's opinion. At last the doctor turned to him and asked, "Do you have any children?"

"Oh, good grief, is it contagious?" the man gasped. "No," the doctor answered. "It's bubble gum."

TODAY’S WORD

askew \uh-SKYOO\ adjective :

out of line

: awry

Jeff didn't realize that the bookshelf he had hung on the wall was slightly askew until he placed a pen on it and it rolled off the edge

 or

She looked at me askew after my ill-timed joke

TODAY’S REFLECTION

My little children, let us not love in word or intongue, but in deed and in truth.

1 John 3:18

Jesus’ actions supported His words, and so should ours. What we say is significant to a watching world only if it’s consistent with what we do. As we tell people about Christ’s love, those words will communicate powerfully if surrounded by acts of love and kindness. Actions do speak louder!

TODAY’S ADVICE FROM THE OLD FARMER’S ALMANAC

Mulch around trees to create a safe zone where your mower won't go. Nicking a tree trunk can seriously damage even a well-established tree.

13 DAYS UNTIL SUMMER !

Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your Heart

Psalm 37:4

May there be a miracle in YOUR life today and may you have the EYES to SEE it!

I Love You All !!!

Be Blessed !!!
