ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

JUNE 28TH, 2007

TODAY'S THOUGHT

Every now and then go away, even briefly, have a little relaxation, for when you come back to your work your judgment will be surer; since to remain constantly at work will cause you to lose power.

Leonardo da Vinci

TODAY’S ACTION

Enjoy the abundance of summer.

TODAY’S QUOTE

Its nice to be important; but it’s more important to be nice.

HAPPY THURSDAY!

Yesterday I did work for 7 hours. I didnt take a lunch break so I was all done by 2:00. Now I don’t work until Monday. DD and her hubby had us for dinner at their house last night. Today is going to be a difficult one as we have viewing hours at the funeral home from 4-7. Standing for 3 hours won’t work for me, so I’ll probably find a chair some place to greet visitors.

All the ‘babe’s with the exception of DS#2 should be in sometime today and will be there. That will be a great help. After that DS#5 and his wife are having us back to their house for something to eat.

DS#1 and his wife put together something good in the crock pot and that’s what we’ll be having. One thing for sure , so matter what, we eat well.

DD and her hubby have graciously helped with the list of things to get for the get together after the funeral at Dad’s house. Many of my aunts and uncles are also bringing things so there will be plenty of food for anyone that wishes to come afterwards.

All in all things are going smoothly. We will still have our work cut out for us later as there is the house and all the contents to dispose of. But that will be later and we’ll just take it one day at a time.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

25 WORDS

God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me, and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name

TODAY IS…PAUL BUNYAN DAY

The legend of Paul Bunyan started with stories told by men in lumber camps. He was supposed to be a giant lumberjack who performed incredible feats - such as scooping out the Great Lakes to get water for his blue ox, Babe.

The stories probably date back to the 1800's. They appeared in newspapers in the early 1900's and turned Paul into part of American folklore.

THE REEF

DON'T WORRY IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS!

Which is easy to say until you are in the midst of a really big one, I know. But the only people I am aware of who don't have troubles are gathered in little neighborhoods. Most communities have at least one.

We call them cemeteries. If you're breathing, you have difficulties. It's the way of life. And believe it or not, most of your problems may actually be good for you! Let me explain.

Maybe you have seen the Great Barrier Reef, stretching some 1,800 miles from New Guinea to Australia. Tour guides regularly take visitors to view the reef. On one tour, the guide was asked an interesting question. "I notice that the lagoon side of the reef looks pale and lifeless, while the ocean side is vibrant and colorful," a traveler observed. "Why is this?"

The guide gave an interesting answer: "The coral around the lagoon side is in still water, with no challenge for its survival. It dies early. The coral on the ocean side is constantly being tested by wind, waves, storms -- surges of power. It has to fight for survival every day of it's life. As it is challenged and tested it changes and adapts. It grows healthy. It grows strong. And it reproduces."

Then he added this telling note: "That's the way it is with every living organism." That is how it is with people! Challenged and tested, we come alive! Like coral pounded by the sea, we grow! Physical demands can cause us to grow stronger. Mental and emotional stress can produce tough-mindedness and resiliency. Spiritual testing can produce strength of character and faithfulness.

So, you have problems -- no problem! Just tell yourself, "There I grow again!"

TODAY’S REFLECTION

He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.

Isaiah 40:29

Do you sometimes find yourself getting weary? Do you do the dishes and wash the clothes, then see them get dirty once more? Does your workload at the office or at school get you down?

Sometimes it is more difficult to do a routine job than such a heroic task, but when you keep hoping and trusting in God, he will give you the strength to conquer any challenge that faces you
