TODAY'S THOUGHT

Dr. Norman Vincent Peale

TODAY’S QUOTE
Don't wait for an employer, friend, or mentor to show appreciation for your work. Take pride in your own efforts on a daily basis.
Denis Waitley
HAPPY FINALLY FRIDAY!
Well I put on my ***BIG SMILE*** and went off to work as usual yesterday. By the time my work day ended however, my smile had decreased in size to almost non-existent. Not because something terrible happened, but because I didn’t want to open my mouth.
My front tooth broke off my partial plate again and now I have a big empty space there when I open my mouth. This is the 3rd or 4th time this has happened and I’m so embarrassed about it all.
I don’t know whether to try and have it fixed again or just find a new way of talking and smiling so that my empty space doesn’t show.
I did get a bit of good news via the mail.
The Newlyweds sent a package with a program I’ve needed for the computer and my JUNE bracelet. I’ve been somewhat lax in posting pictures of the monthly bracelet so one of these days soon I’m going to try and post them on my journal page for you all to see.
A big THANK YOU Newlyweds! I love the bracelet .
It’s just perfect for summer.
Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !
Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
25 WORDS
God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me, and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name
TODAY IS…SPILL THE SALT DAY
Salt was our first food seasoning. It also purified water, preserved meat and medicated wounds. It was so highly prized that spilling it became a bad omen. The Sumarians, Egyptians and Greeks all used the gesture of throwing a pinch of salt over the left shoulder to ward off bad luck. The Romans gave their soldiers special allowances for salt rations called salarium (meaning "salt money"). This is the origin of our word "salary" today

In some parts of Mexico hot springs and cold springs are found side by side--and because of the convenience of this natural phenomenon the women often bring their laundry and boil their clothes in the hot springs and then rinse them in the cold ones.
A tourist, who was watching this procedure commented to his Mexican friend and guide: "I imagine that they think old Mother Nature is pretty generous to supply such ample, clean hot and cold water here side by side for their free use."
The guide replied, "No seƱor, there is much grumbling because she supplies no soap.

QUOTES FROM ERMA BOMBECK
My kids always perceived the bathroom as a place where you wait it out until all the groceries are unloaded from the car.
I don't know why no one ever thought to paste a label on the toilet-tissue spindle giving 1-2-3 directions for replacing the tissue on it. Then everyone in the house would know what Mama knows.
Marriage has no guarantees. If that's what you're looking for, go live with a car battery.
Why is it when you want a nice souvenir, you find a great shell in a gift shop, but some yo-yo has affixed a ten-cent thermometer to it?
Kids have little computer bodies with disks that store information. They remember who had to do the dishes the last time you had spaghetti, who lost the knob off the Tv set six years ago, who got punished for teasing the dog when he wasn't teasing the dog and who had to wear girls boots the last time it snowed.
I remember buying a set of black plastic dishes once, after I saw an ad on television where they actually put a blowtorch to them and they emerged unscathed. Exactly one week after I bought them, one of the kids brought a dinner plate to me with a large crack in it. When I asked what happened to it, he said it hit a tree. I don't want to talk about it.
My theory on housework is, if the item doesn't multiply, smell, catch on fire or block the refrigerator door, let it be. No one cares. Why should you?
Everyone is guilty at one time or another of throwing out questions that beg to be ignored, but mothers seem to have a market on the supply. "Do you want a spanking or do you want to go to bed?" Don't you want to save some of the pizza for your brother?" Wasn't there any change?"
The age of your children is a key factor in how quickly you are served in a restaurant. We once had a waiter in Canada who said, "Could I get you your check?" and we answered, "How about the menu first?"
When your mother asks, "Do you want a piece of advice?" it's a mere formality. It doesn't matter if you answer yes or no. You're going to get it anyway.

TODAY’S REFLECTION
Give us this day our daily bread.
Matthew 6:11
The word bread refers to any food. The phrase “this day” indicates provision thatcame to them one day at a time. Many first-century workers were paid one day at a time, so a few days’ illness could spell tragedy. “Daily” could be translated “for the coming day.”
The prayer would read: “Give us today our bread for the coming day.” It was an urgent prayer to those who lived from hand to mouth.
This prayer calls Jesus’ followers everywhere to recognize that our ability to work and earn our food comes from God’s hand.
TODAY’S ADVICE FROM THE OLD FARMER’S ALMANAC
