FOR WEDNESDAY, JUNE 27, 2007

ON THE BRIGHTSIDE

JUNE 27th, 2007

TODAY'S THOUGHT

If a man empties his purse into his head, no one can take it away from him. An investment of knowledge always pays the best interest.

Benjamin Franklin

TODAY'S ACTION

Pray as you go about the business of the day. Utilize minute prayers by closing your eyes to shut out the world and concentrating briefly on God's presence. The more you do this every day, the nearer you will feel God's presence.

TODAY'S QUOTE

It is not enough to be busy; so are the ants. The question is: What are we busy about?

Henry David Thoreau, American author (1817-1862)

HAPPY WEDNESDAY

Back to work this morning. I really appreciated having hadTuesday off and today will be a short day then I’ll be off again on Thursday and Friday. I did get a beautiful bunch of daisies from the ‘Newlyweds’ yesterday. They thought I might just need a hug and a smile…I Did! Your thoughtfulness was much appreciated.

The temps soared up to 90 here again yesterday and today will still be pretty hot too. DD and her hubby are having diner for us all this evening. DS#4 and family are home and the rest will be coming in.

Take good care all ! I’ll be praying for all the travelers coming and going as we gather for Dad’s funeral.

Have a great day all ! Another Wonderful Day on the Way !

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL !

25 WORDS

God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me, and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name

TODAY IS...SUNGLASSES DAY

Smoke tinted glasses were invented before 1430 in China. But, they weren't for sun protection. Judges wore them in court so nobody could see their eyes and guess their opinion before a verdict was declared. Sunglasses as we know them today are a 20th century phenomenon. In the 1930s, the military commissioned glasses that would protect pilots from sun glare. But, they didn't become a real fad until the 1960s when an ad campaign said... "Who's Behind those Foster Grants?".

 TODAY'S TRIVIA

Originally named Hot Foot Teddy by the firemen who saved his life, he became better known as Smokey the Bear

TODAY'S SMILE

We had just finished eating a beautiful dinner that my mother had prepared for our 28-member family. As I glanced up at the chandelier over the table, I was mesmerized by the creative handiwork a spider had woven around the prisms and light bulbs.

"Don't look up there!" my mother screamed. "It's the one thing I was too tired to clean!"

"Don't look where?" my brother asked.

"There!" my mother pointed. "It's my own personal web sight!"

TODAY'S REFLECTION

…I am not alone. I stand with the Father…

John 8:16

There were many times that Jesus was alone. But Jesus was never afraid, for he knew that he was never alone. There are many families who are so isolated that they no longer have family dinners together or play together. Slowly but surely they grow apart

When an isolated friend, fellow-worker or fellow student reaches out to you with a question or problem, If you take the time -- yes, I know the time is valuable -- but if you take the time to listen and encourage that person, you may have an opportunity to lead a lost sheep into God's flock.
