ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

APRIL 26th, 2007

TODAY'S THOUGHT

Life's most urgent question is: what are you doing for others?

Martin Luther King, Jr.

TODAY’S ACTION

Let the quality of your deeds speak on your behalf.

TODAY’S QUOTE

I'm very pleased with each advancing year. It stems back to when I was forty. I was a bit upset about reaching that milestone, but an older friend consoled me. 'Don't complain about growing old - many, many people do not have that privilege.'

Earl Warren (1891 - 1974), Chief Justice .

HAPPY THURSDAY

Yesterday was a bit on the chilly side and it rained all day. Today it should be a little warmer , but there is still rain in the forecast.

Work has been on the quiet side all week. Next week my boss comes back from his vacation so I imagine it will get much busier then. I’ll just have to count my blessings while I can.

A friend of mine has asked for prayers for her great-grand daughter who will have surgery on May 3rd . Please keep this little one and her family in your prayers. She is very tiny and has many problems. And also pray that our dear Lord will guide the doctors caring for her .

God Bless You !

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

…And please continue to pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

25 WORDS

God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me, and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name

TODAY IS…NAIL POLISH DAY

The Egyptians were staining their fingernails with henna back in 3000 B.C., but nail paint was invented in China to show social rank. When the use of nail paint spread, it continued to signify social order - with red at the top. Queen Nefertiti painted her fingernails and toenails ruby red. Cleopatra used a deep rust red. But, it wasn't just women who were getting manicures. Egyptian, Babylonian and Roman military leaders had their fingernails painted before they went into battle.

TODAY’S SMILE

An elderly woman called the hospital to inquire about the health of a patient. "Hospital Operator? Hello, Darling. I'd like to talk with the person who gives the information about the patients. But I don't want to know if the patient is better or doing like expected, or worse. I want all the information from top to bottom, fromA to Z."

The voice on the other line said, "Would you hold the line please, that's a very unusual request." Then a very authoritative voice came on and said, "Are you the lady who is calling about one of the patients?"

She said, "Yes, darling! I'd like to know the information about Sarah Finkel in Room 302." He said, "Finkel. Finkel. Let me see. Farber, Feinberg... Finkel. Oh yes, Mrs. Finkel is doing very well. In fact, she's had two full meals, and her doctor says if she continues improving as she is he is going to send her home today at twelve o'clock."

The woman said, "Thank God! That's wonderful! She's going home at twelve o'clock! I'm so happy to hear that. That's wonderful news."

"From your enthusiasm," the man on the other end said, "I take it you must be a close family member." She said, "What close family? I'm Sarah Finkel! My doctor doesn't tell me anything."

As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth. For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more. But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children; to such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them.

Psalms 103:15-18

TODAY’S REFLECTION

Make it a point of honor to remain at peace and attend to your own affairs.

1 Thes 4:11

How briefly, but how firmly St. Paul tells me to "mind my own business." How right he is!

I am in no position to judge others; only God knows the mind and heart of others. This prerogative belongs to God even though I try so often to assume it myself!

Surely, if I attend to my own affairs I will be at peace. Paul tells me to make this a point of honor.

Follow Me by Msgr. David E. Rosage

He who goes about gossiping reveals secrets; therefore do not associate with one who speaks foolishly.

Proverbs 20:19

Psalm 37:4
