TODAY'S THOUGHT

Christopher Robin to Pooh

TODAY’S ACTION

Be willing to take lovingly each small gift of life.

TODAY’S QUOTE

Remember that life’s most treasured moments often come unannounced.

HAPPY SATURDAY

As usual for a Saturday morning I'm sitting here with a cat on my lap and slowly sipping my good morning coffee.  No rush to be off to work.  I have a few things to do here and then I'm off to spend the day with Dad as usual.

The rain is supposed to stop and by tomorrow it will be warmer and sunny. Just in time for the party at DS#3's house.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

25 WORDS

God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me, and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name

TODAY IS…ZUCCHINI BREAD DAY

Zucchini is also called courgettes, marrows and summer squash. According to the National Gardening Association, it is not one of the top ten vegetables grown in home gardens (the tomato tops that list). This might be because when you plant zucchini, you end up with enough of the vegetable to feed a small army.

ZUCCHINI BREAD RECIPE

3 eggs

3/4 cup applesauce

1/4 cup oil

2 cups sugar 1

Tablespoon vanilla

1 cup whole-wheat flour

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon baking powder

1 Tablespoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

1/2 teaspoon cloves

1/2 teaspoon allspice

1/4 teaspoon ginger

2 cups zucchini, grated

1 cup nuts, chopped

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour 2 large loaf pans 2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the eggs, oil and applesauce. Add sugar and vanilla. 3. Add all of the dry ingredients and mix well. Stir in zucchini and nuts last. 4. Bake about 50 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool before removing from pan. Freezes well.

TODAY’S TRIVIA

Today is National Blueberry Pie Day.

Small cars were offered forsale in the U.S. for the first time on this day in 1939. Actually, these little cars would make today’s compact cars look like land yachts!

Imagine a car that sold for $325, was 10-feet long, had an 80-inch wheelbase and a four-gallon gas tank. We just described the Crosley which became fairly popular back in 1939 -- but wouldn’t survive. It was replaced less than 15 years later by the popular German Volkswagen Beetle. Remember? It was more affectionately called the Bug.

TODAY’S SMILE

A friend recently took his two-year-old daughter to the home-improvement store. His daughter quickly became tired of walking, so he let her ride on his shoulders. But soon after he began carrying her, she began pulling on his hair.

Although he asked her kindly to cease pulling his hair several times, she kept on. Getting fairly annoyed, he began to severely scold her. "But, Daddy," she replied, "I'm just trying to get my gum back."

Is there something in your life you can release to God for His providential care?

Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

1 Peter 5:7

TODAY’S REFLECTION

Train children in the right way, and when old, they will not stray. Proverbs 22:6

It is important to take advantage of every moment to teach children about God's love for us.

Lord Jesus, make us mindful that every day offers opportunities to teach others about the path that leads to you. Amen.
