FOR WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, 2006

ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

SEPTEMBER 13TH, 2006

TODAY'S THOUGHT

A happy person is not a person in a certain set of circumstances, but rather a person with a certain set of attitudes.

Hugh Downs

TODAY’S ACTION

You can make yourself sick or well by the habitual thoughts you think. Don't drain back into your body the diseased thoughts of your mind.

TODAY’S QUOTE

Sooner or later busy people learn to write things down. It’s the best way to capture things we are apt to forget. ‘The strongest memory,’ says an old Chinese proverb, ‘is weaker than the palest ink.’"

HAPPY WEDNESDAY!

Over the Hump Day !

Yesterday it rained most of the day and today the rain is still supposed to persist. I miss my sunshine! We were blessed with many sunshiny days this summer !

It should be a busy day at work because it’s payroll day and that is good because the day will go by faster. I only put in 3 and ½ days of overtime this week. Much better than the past 2!

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands.

Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

GOD BLESS YOU!

TODAY IS…CLEAN OUT THE JUNK DRAWER DAY

Come on now !

Nobody needs 126 'D' batteries "just in case."

TODAY’S TRIVIA

International Chocolate Day - Celebrated on the birthday of Milton Hershey

CANDY KISSES DAY

Pull the little paper sticking out of the foil. That’s right. Now carefully unwrap the silver foil. Voila! A milk-chocolate delight; and just one of the many chocolate products produced by the Hershey Chocolate Company.

1931 - Vaudeville star Eddie Cantor was heard for the first time -- on NBC radio. The Chase and Sanborn Hour became one of the most popular radio shows of the 1930s

1954 - The cover of LIFE magazine was adorned with Judy Garland’s picture, with the caption, “Judy Garland takes off after an Oscar.” Garland had been nominated for her role in A Star is Born.

TODAY’S SMILE

Start your day off with a great big smile because every day should be a GREAT DAY.

A couple of weeks after hearing a sermon on Psalms 51:2-4 (knowing my own hidden secrets) and Psalms 52:3-4 (lies and deceit), a man wrote the following letter to the IRS:

I have been unable to sleep, knowing that I have cheated on my income tax. I understated my taxable income, and have enclosed a check for $150.00. If I still can't sleep, I will send the rest."

 one more...

During our church's worship service, the pastor invites all the young children to join him near the altar for the "Children's Moments Sermon."

One day, with seven small children in attendance, he spoke about the ingredients required to make up a church, using a chocolate-chip cookie as an example.

He explained to the children that, as with a cookie requiring ingredients such as sugar and eggs, the church needed ingredients to make up the congregation.

Holding a cookie aloft, he asked, "If I took the chocolate chips out of this cookie, what would I have?"

A shy six-year-old raised his hand. "Six less grams of fat," he replied.

And another one…

The census taker knocked on Donna's door. She answered all his questions except one. She refused to tell him her age. "But everyone tells their age to the census taker," he said.

"Did Miss Maisy Hill, and Miss Daisy Hill tell you their ages?" she asked. "Certainly," he replied

"Well, I'm the same age as they are," she snapped.

"As old as the Hills," he wrote on his form.

And finally…

Wouldn’t it be fun to be a pet dog, if only for a day, who is loved, groomed, fed, and whose only concern is when to look cute, take a nap, play, guard the fort, and look out the window and let the sunshine on your face?
