FOR TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 2006

ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

SEPTEMBER 19TH,2006

 TODAY'S THOUGHT

Our doubts are traitors and make us lose the good we oft might win by fearing to attempt.

Shakespeare

TODAY’S ACTION

Remember that the only boundaries we have are the ones we place on our own imaginations.

TODAY’S QUOTE

It is difficult to live in the present, ridiculous to live in the future, and impossible to live in the past. Nothing is as far away as one minute ago.

Jim Bishop

HAPPY TUESDAY !

Well our rain came right on schedule as predicted by the weather man. It started on my way home from work yesterday Today is supposed to be partly cloudy with a high of 70 degrees and a low of 49. That’s a bit chilly.

Tonight is Dulcimer night and this month we start practicing Christmas Carols…I love them and since we only get together once a month, That only gives us 4 Times to play them.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

GOD BLESS YOU !

 TODAY IS…HOMEMADE PUDDING DAY

What can I say about This Date?   You can spend hours sweating over a hot stove doing this... Make Your Own Pudding OR buy some pudding paks

BUTTER SCOTCH PUDDING RECIPE

3 cups milk

4 large egg yolks

3/4 cup dark brown sugar

1/4 cup cornstarch

2 Tbsp. unsalted butter, cold, cut into small pieces

 2 tsp. vanilla

3 Tbsp. molasses

1.Bring 2-1/2 cups milk to a boil in a medium saucepan. Mix together the remaining 1/2 cup milk, egg yolks, brown sugar, molasses, and cornstarch in a mixing bowl until smooth.   2. Temper the hot milk into the mixing bowl by slowly adding and while mixing. Return the entire mixture to the saucepan.   3. Bring to a boil, whisking constantly until thickened. Remove from the heat and whisk in butter and vanilla extract.   4. Strain into a clean bowl or four individual pudding cups. Place a piece of plastic wrap or waxed paper directly on the pudding surface. Let cool at room temperature and refrigerate for at least three hours before serving.

(I never strained my pudding, but I didn’t mind the lumps either )

TODAY’S TRIVIA

Today is National Butterscotch Pudding Day.

1819 - It was such a beautiful fall day that poet John Keats was inspired to take out pen and pad. He inked one of the best-loved English poems, Ode to Autumn.

1876: Melville Bissell patented the carpet sweeper. The name, Bissell, became synonymous with carpet sweepers during the first half of the 20th century -- much like Frigidaire and refrigerator, Jell-O and gelatin dessert.

1928 Mickey Mouse's screen debut (Steamboat Willie at Colony Theater NYC)

1960: Chubby Checker's "The Twist" entered American music charts and led to a new dance craze.

TODAY’S SMILE

Start your day off with a great big smile because every day should be a GREAT DAY.

Be on the lookout for symptoms of inner peace.   The hearts of a great many have already been exposed to inner peace and it is possible that people everywhere could come down with it in epidemic proportions. This could pose a serious threat to what has, up to now, been a fairly stable condition of conflict in the world. Some signs to look for:

 1. A tendency to think and act spontaneously rather than on fears based on past experiences.

 2. An unmistakable ability to enjoy each moment.

3. A loss of interest in judging other people.

4. A loss of interest in interpreting the actions of others.   5. A loss of interest in conflict.

6. A loss of the ability to worry. (This is a very serious symptom.)

7. Frequent, overwhelming episodes of appreciation.

8. Contented feelings of connectedness with others and nature.

9. Frequent attacks of smiling.

10. An increasing tendency to let things happen rather than make them happen.

 11. An increased susceptibility to the love offered by others as well as the uncontrollable urge to extend it.

TODAY’S WORD

 germinate intransitive verb, transitive verb

JUR-mah-nate' intransitive verb

 1. to begin to raise or grow: "As time passed and my influence grew, I was able to germinate a strong consensus in our party that socialism was inevitable."

2. (as in Botany) to develop into a plant (as a seed, spore, or bulb) or to grow shoots; sprout

3. to begin; or to come into existence transitive verb

4. to cause to sprout or develop noun forms: germination, germinator adjective form: germinative

TODAY’S REFLECTION

Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus

 I Thessalonians 5:16-17

Thessalonian Christians were suffering many persecutions, both from Roman conquerors and from their fellow Jews who hated the way they believed. Paul wrote a letterof encouragement, telling them how to find courage in trying times.

A. Be joyful always. That means to look for the good in every situation.

B. Pray continually. The prayers don't have to be long and formal. A prayer can be one sentence. Short prayers throughout the day keep you close to the Lord.

C. Give thanks in all circumstances. When trouble comes, thank God for being with you, for the Bible promises, "If God is for us, who can be against us?" (Romans 8:31).
