TODAY’S QUOTE
Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counsellors, and the most patient of teachers.
Charles W. Eliot, The Happy Life,
1896 US educator (1834 - 1926)
HAPPY FRIDAY!
My very favorite day of the week has arrived ! After a very short and hectic work week I’m ready for the weekend. We’ve been busy busy !
Evenings are flying by faster than ever as each day becomes shorter than the last.
Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !
Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
GOD BLESS YOU !
TODAY IS…LEFT RIGHT DAY
There are two spots on Earth where there is only one direction to go. Do you know where? At the North Pole you can only go South, no matter which way you turn. And at the South Pole you can only go North. But put me in a car at either spot and I would still find a way to make a wrong turn.
TODAY’S TRIVIA
Today is National Date Nut Bread Day.
Today is Oprah Day, marking the premier of "The Oprah Winfrey Show" on this date in 1986.
1565: Don Pedro Menendez de Aviles of Spain landed in Florida and established the first permanent settlement of Europeans in North America, eventually to be called St. Augustine.
1922: At the second Miss America pageant, 16-year-old Mary Campbell of Columbus, Ohio, won the title. She won it again the following year, the only Miss America to serve two consecutive years.
1962: "Monster Mash" by Bobby "Boris" Pickett and the Crypt Kickers entered the music charts. No record company would touch the song, so Bobby pressed a thousand copies on his own label and sent them to key radio stations. It hit #1 and still plays every Halloween

TODAY’S SMILE
Start your day off with a great big smile because every day should be a GREAT DAY.
A travel agent looked up from his desk to see an older lady and an older gentleman peering in the shop window at the posters showing the glamorous destinations around the world.
The agent had had a good week and the dejected couple looking in the window gave him a rare feeling of generosity. He called them into his shop and said, "I know that on your pension you could never hope to have a holiday, so I am sending you off to a fabulous resort at my expense, and I won't take no for an answer."
He took them inside and asked his secretary to write two flight tickets and book a room in a five star hotel. They,as can be expected, gladly accepted, and were on their way.
About a month later the little lady came in to his shop. "And how did you like your holiday?" he asked eagerly. "The flight was exciting and the room was lovely," she said.
"I've come to thank you. But, one thing puzzled me. Who was that old guy I had to share the room with?

A tribute for 9-11-01
I urge you to remember that what counts most hasn't changed at all since September 11. Truth is still truth. Love still endures (and ultimately wins over hatred). And God still answers prayer.
Join with me and millions of others in beseeching Him for peace, justice and healing for our nation and our world.
The President has called for national days of prayer and remembrance this weekend, September 8-11, pray that the heroism of 9-11 first responders will be honored and that they and their families will find comfort in the love and support of a grateful nation.

TODAY’S SCAM
Please pass this on to everyone in your email address book. It is spreading fast so be prepared should you get this call. Most of us take those summons for jury duty seriously, but enough people skip out on their civic duty, that a new and ominous kind of scam has surfaced. Fall for it and your identity could be stolen, reports CBS.
In this con, someone calls pretending to be a court official who threateningly says a warrant has been issued for your arrest because you didn't show up for jury duty. The caller claims to be a jury coordinator. If you protest that you never received a summons for jury duty, the scammer asks you for your Social Security number and date of birth so he or she can verify the information and cancel the arrest warrant. Sometimes they even ask for credit card numbers.
Give out any of this information and bingo! Your identity just got stolen. The scam has been reported so far in 11 states. This (scam) is particularly insidious because they use intimidation over the phone to try to bully people into giving information by pretending they're with the court system.
The FBI and the federal court system have issued nationwide alerts on their web sites, warning consumers about the fraud. Check it out here: http://www.snopes.com/crime/fraud/juryduty.asp
And I heard on our local evening news that there are people trying to get our personal information claiming they are government officials. Please be aware !
TODAY’S REFLECTION
A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest -- and poverty will come on you like a bandit and scarcity like an armed man.
Proverbs 6:10-11
Today's scripture implies that we have to keep on keeping on, if we wish to reach our goal. If you are feeling discouraged about reaching your goal, don't give up! Keep praying, keep working, and keep believing. Trust God's guidance and don't give up!
Follow every rainbow, ‘til you find your dream
