TODAY’S QUOTE

Two sounds of autumn are unmistakable, the hurrying rustle of crisp leaves blown along the street or road by a gusty wind, and the gabble of a flock of migrating geese. Both are warnings of chill days ahead, fireside and topcoat weather.

HAPPY THURSDAY

It is only Thursday… this week is turning out to be a long one. Wednesday was another just beautiful fall day ! Sad to say the weather is going down hill though.

Guess I’ll be making my own SUNSHINE today !

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior

GOD BLESS YOU !

TODAY IS… LI’L ABNER DAY

The man who created Li’l Abner was born on this day in 1909 at New Haven, Connecticut. Alfred Gerald Caplin, better knownas Al Capp was responsible for all the happenings in the fictitious hillbilly town of Dogpatch. From 1934 until 1977, Capp wrote and drew the cartoon, Li’l Abner, with its cast of wonderful characters, Mammy and Pappy Yokum, their son Abner, the lovely Daisy Mae, Fearless Fosdick and the lovable Schmoos. Al Capp even invented a holiday, Sadie Hawkins Day

1991 - Garth Brooks, big ol’ black hat and all, hit number one with his album Ropin’ the Wind. He was the first country artist to debut an album at #1 on both the Billboard album chart and country album chart.

1994: "Cats" 5,000th Broadway performance

TODAY’S SMILE

SHOOTING STARS

The teacher asked little Johnny, "Can you name four shooting stars?" Little Johnny said, "I sure can.

Wyatt Earp, Annie Oakley, Buffalo Bill, and John Wayne."

MOVIE NIGHT

My wife was complaining that I spend too much time on the computer, and not enough time with her. I decided to fix that by having a `movie night` with her.

We watched `Hackers`, `The Net`, `Anti-Trust`, `You've Got Mail` and The Matrix. She's still mad at me.

What did I do?

TODAY’S REFLECTION

Dear brothers and sisters, if another Christian is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself. Share each other's troubles and problems, and in this way obey the law of Christ. If you think you are too important to help someone in need, you are only fooling yourself. You are really a nobody. Be sure to do what you should, for then you will enjoy the personal satisfaction of having done your work well, and you won't need to compare yourself to anyone else. For we are each responsible for our own conduct.

(Galatians 6:1-5 NLT 1st Ed.)

We've all done it, right? Tried to evade responsibility by pretending not to be aware. Defending a dumb act by saying everybody else does it. Saying it isn't really so bad after all. Or by blaming it on somebody else.

Take responsibility for goofs, foul-ups, and moral failures. Teach your children that lying or refusing to be accountable is a far worse offense than breaking either a toy or a rule. And the best way to teach that lesson is to model mature behavior around them.

Among other things, mature behavior means trying to make goodchoices and owning up to it when you don't.

(I love reading different translations of the Bible – this particular one sure said it plain and clear – didn’t it? )
