ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

SEPTEMBER 9TH, 2006

TODAY'S THOUGHT

Be careful how you live; you will be the only Bible some people ever read.

William J. Toms

TODAY’S ACTION

By acting as you wish yourself to be, in due course you will become as you act.

TODAY’S QUOTE

While they were saying among themselves it cannot be done, it was done

Helen Keller

HAPPY SATURDAY!

Today I’ve got some shopping to do and of course the weekly ‘house blessing.’ By afternoon we may see a little rain, but the temps are supposed to be in the 80’s.

As usual it will all go by too fast, but for right now I’m sitting here enjoying a quiet morning and sipping the good coffee

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way!

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

 GOD BLESS YOU !

TODAY IS…TEDDY BEAR DAY

The "Teddy" bear is named after U.S. president, Theodore Roosevelt. The inventor of this lovable toy was from Germany - Margarete Steiff. As a young girl, Margarete was stricken with polio. She spent her life in a wheelchair and enjoyed making toys for the neighborhood children. They were so popular, she eventually started a toy factory. Her stuffed bears had no name until a cartoon appeared in newspapers with Roosevelt refusing to shoot a bear on a hunting trip in 1902

TODAY’S TRIVIA

Today is Aunts Day, a day to honor all your aunts.

Today is National Hot Dog Day.

1836 - Abraham Lincoln received his license to practice law.

1850 - When California became the 31st of the United States of America on this day, cries of “there’s gold in them thar hills” had already been heard for two years. So, it’s no surprise that the nickname for the most populous state is the Golden State, and that the golden poppy (orange-yellowish in color) is the state flower.

1956 - On this Sunday night, 54,000,000 viewers (82.6 percent of the U.S. television audience) turned their TV dials to CBS to see and hear 21-year-old singer Elvis ‘The Pelvis’ Presley. Elvis sang Don’t Be Cruel and Ready Teddy. Elvis got the largest fee to that date for appearing on The Ed Sullivan Show: $50,000.

1990 - The Ellis Island Museum of Immigration, closed to public tours in 1984, was reopened this day, following a $160 million restoration. Private citizens had mounted the campaign that returned the island’s main building to its former grandeur. Ellis Island was the gateway for more than half of the immigrants entering the U.S. between 1892 and 1924.

TODAY’S SMILE

Start your day off with a great big smile because every day should be a GREAT DAY.

A friend, driving home from a fishing trip in northern Michigan with his boat in tow, had engine trouble a few miles inland from Lake Huron. He didn't have a CB radio in his car, so he decided to use his marine radio to get help.

Climbing into hisboat, he broadcast his call letters and asked for assistance. A Coast Guard officer responded, "Please give your location."

"I'm on Interstate-75, two miles south of Standish."

The officer paused, "Could you repeat that?" "I-75, two miles south of Standish."

A longer pause. Then an incredulous voice asked, "How fast were you going when you hit shore?

 TODAY’S REFLECTION

Then Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, 'If you return to the Lord with all your hearts, then put away the foreign gods and the Ashtereths from among you, and prepare your hearts for the Lord, and serve Him only, and He will deliver you from the hand of the Philistines.'

I Samuel 7:3

The Philistines were a great threat to the Israelites. The ark of the Lord had been in Philistine hands, but had just been returned, and they rejoiced. Today's scripture was Samuel's advice.

We could take his advice, for each of us may face trouble one day. If you have prepared your heart for the Lord during the good times, God will give you the strength and courage to meet and weather any storm.

TODAY’S ADVICE FROM THE OLD FARMER’S ALMANAC

A whispering grove tells of a storm to come.

13 DAYS UNTIL AUTUMN

Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your Heart

Psalm 37:4

I Love You All !!!

Be Blessed !!!
