ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

DECEMBER 7th, 2005

TODAY'S THOUGHT

Serenity is not freedom from the storm; it is peace within the storm.

TODAY'S ACTION

Form a picture in your mind of health, prosperity and abundance

TODAY'S QUOTE

It's good to have money and the things that money can buy, but it's good, too, to check up once in a while and make sure that you haven't lost the things that money can't buy

George Horace Lorimer

ADVENT

In the midst of weary news, whether worldwide, national, local, or personal, take a deep breath. Relax your mind and heart and breathe. Breath in the love and kindness and graciousness of God. Be aware of an act of kindness given to you or someone you know. Give thanks for the small kindnesses and mercies that can burst that mushroom cloud of doom and gloom.

Remember that old movie, Pay It Forward, where one person’s kindness is passed along to another in need? That is a good activity for Advent people who hope in the Lord, who trust in God’s presence in troubled times, who are called to be People of Hope and Courage. Choose to pay forward

Why not just try to stay in and warm your heart today along with your body. We all have different ways to warm our heart. A sweat suit or cozy sweater will warm your body. Even making a nice warm fire in the fireplace sounds appealing (I don't have a fireplace). You decide today what will bless and warm your heart

Share an Old Tradition with a Child who has never experienced it. Try to remember what you did as a child or what you never did that you always wanted to

HAPPY WEDNESDAY!!

The middle of the week and it's been a cold one.  Seven degrees predicted for last night. I think my furnace is on overtime, and you know what that costs!

I had a call from DS#1 on Monday evening and they were enjoying the warm weather on their vacation at Disney !  The a/c in their hotel room was running !  I'm not sure which I'd rather have.  The nice in between days where we need nothing to keep us comfortable are far and few to be had.

Keep warm or cool as the case may be !

Have a great day !  Another wonderful one on the Way !

TODAY IS...PEARL HARBOR DAY

Honoring our World War II Veterans on Pearl Harbor Day... At dawn on Sunday, December 7, 1941, naval aviation forces of the Empire of Japan attacked the United States Pacific Fleet center at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

TODAY'S SMILE

Searching through row upon row of Christmas trees, my husband and I picked one we liked. Then I noticed the one being held by a woman nearby the perfect tree. I watched as she carried it around the lot and couldn't believe my eyes when she set it aside. I ditched ours and ran over to grab the coveted tree. Aren't we lucky?I said . I do feel a little guilty, though, for taking it before she could change her mind. Don't worry, he replied. She just ran over and snatched ours

Dining out one evening I noticed some teenagers celebrating at a nearby table. When one girl pulled out a camera, I offered to take a picture of the group. After one photo I suggested taking another just in case the first one didn't come out.

That's ok, she said as she took her camera back. I always get double prints

TODAY'S WORD

TODAY'S REFLECTION

But hope that is seen is not hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has? But if we hope for what we do not have YET, we wait for it patiently.

 Rom 8:24-25

The word yet in the above passage makes it clear there is a desired end. Without it hope would not be introduced. It would then be hope as the world gives a hope unfounded. There is no assurance.

Hope without a destiny is not Biblical hope. Let God have His full development of hope in the soil of your heart.
