ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

DECEMBER 3rd, 2005

TODAY'S THOUGHT

All comes at the proper time to him who knows how to wait

Saint Vincent de Paul

TODAY'S ACTION

Abandon the urge to simplify everything, and appreciate the fact that life is complex

TODAY'S QUOTE

Perhaps the key to the back door of our hearts is simply acceptance-- the kind of love that would just as soon hug you in a tattered bathrobe as in your Sunday best

Susan Lenzkes

ADVENT

One tree prayed to be made into a beautiful palace; a second tree prayed to be made into a ship; a third tree wanted to remain in the forest and point to God. The first tree was made into a stable where the Babe was born; the second tree was made into a small ship that was launched on the Sea of Galilee, whereon stood a young Man who told the multitudes: I have come that [you] may have life, and have it to the full - John 10:10; the third tree was made into a cross that ever since has been pointing us to God.

In its way, each tree's prayer was answered.

Set a scheduled regular date with your best friend. Make some popcorn and watch your favorite tear jerker. Don't forget the tissues

Plan a "Christmas Light Tour" of your neighborhood. It's amazing how creative your neighbors can be. Then enjoy some hot cider or cocoa together as a family

HAPPY SUPER SATURDAY!!

My list of things to do is unending.  I can only say it will be a busy day and tomorrow.  The snow is still coming down here, but we have far less than those folks east of Cleveland.  The snow belt area of Northern Ohio is getting lots and lots!

Take good care all !  Watch out for those slick spots!

Have a great day !  Another wonderful one on the Way !

TODAY IS...LET’S HUG DAY!

TODAY'S SMILE

Gifts For The Teacher!

Before Christmas, a kindergarten teacher was receiving gifts from her pupils. The florist's son handed her a gift. She shook it, held it over her head, and said, "I bet I know what it is...flowers." "That's right!" said the boy. "But how did you know?" "Just a wild guess," she said.

The next pupil was the candy store owner's daughter. The teacher held her gift overhead, shook it, and said, "I bet I can guess what it is... a box of candy." "That's right! But how did you know?" asked the girl. "Just a lucky guess," said the teacher.

The next gift was from the liquor store owner's son. The teacher held it over her head but it was leaking. She touched a drop of the leakage with her finger. "Is it wine?" she asked. "No," the boy replied. The teacher shook the box again and more drops fell onto her desk. "Is it champagne?" she asked. "No," the boy replied. The teacher then said, "I give up, what is it?"

The boy replied, A puppy!

And from the news…

The good news for retailers is that American consumers spent an estimated $27.8 billion in the post Thanksgiving weekend. The bad news is $26 billion of that went for gas

TODAY'S WORD

xylography zye-LAH-gruh-fee

TODAY'S REFLECTION

And by common confession great is the mystery of godliness: He who was revealed in the flesh, Was vindicated in the Spirit, Beheld by angels, Proclaimed among the nations, Believed on in the world, Taken up in glory.

1 Timothy 3:16

The spirit of Christmas needs to be superseded by the Spirit of Christ.

The spirit of Christmas is annual;

the Spirit of Christ is eternal. The spirit of Christmas is sentimental;

 the Spirit of Christ is supernatural.

The spirit of Christmas is a human product;

the Spirit of Christ is a divine person.

That makes all the difference in the world.

Stuart Briscoe in Meet Him at the Manger
