ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

OCTOBER 4th, 2OO7

TODAY'S THOUGHT

Memories of our lives, of our works and our deeds will continue in others.

Rosa Parks

TODAY’S ACTION

Look forward and say "I can"; don't look backward and say "I should have."

TODAY’S QUOTE

All of us do not have equal talent, but all of us should have an equal opportunity to develop our talents.

John F. Kennedy

HAPPY THURSDAY !!

AND (Before I forget again)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR SWEETHEART !

May the dear Lord Bless you today and always!!! Yesterday, the 3rd was her 5th birthday that we all celebrated at the party on Saturday last week. She is a very special little girl and I certainly didn’t forget her, I just forgot to put it in my e-mail on Wednesday.

Thankfully it is Thursday, it’s been a busy week at work. Tonight I’ll be going to our church’s Prayer Service and Bible Study. We have a new pastor and he seems very keen on revitalizing our church. I’m looking forward to the study as it’s been awhile since I attended one and have just been studying on my own.

It will be the 1st Thursday of every month, so that won’t be too overwhelming. I’m not one to go out at night especially when it turns cold, so one evening a month is good.

Tomorrow is a vacation day from work. I’ll be getting ready for the weekend wedding and dropping off the beagle at the vets. Then we’ll leave here about 2o’clock to go check in the hotel we’re going to be staying at.

Friday night is rehersal and rehersal dinner, Saturday the wedding and reception and Sunday morning we’ll have breakfast and return home.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

TODAY’S PRAYERS

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

25 WORDS

God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me, and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name

TODAY IS…GOLF LOVERS DAY

During the days of the Roman Empire, they played a game that involved hitting feather-stuffed balls with club-shaped branches. And, so began the game of golf. The first 18-hole course in the U.S. was the Chicago Golf Club founded in 1893. Everybody now gets to take this day off to go play golf!

(just kidding)

TODAY’S TRIVIA

Today is Ten-Four Day, the 4th day of the 10th month, a day to recognize radio operators

1854 - Honest Abe Lincoln made his first great political speech while attending the Illinois State Fair in Springfield

1957: "Leave it to Beaver" debuted on CBS Television.

1976 - TV audiences watched as Barbara Walters joined Harry Reasoner at the anchor desk of the ABC Evening News for the first time. Walters made the switch with a million-dollar paycheck, becoming the first woman to anchor a network evening newscast.

TODAY’S SMILE

ALTHOUGH many men in our rural area have difficulty accepting women's lib, my husband helps with the housework. One day he took over the vacuuming while I went to the store.

The doorbell rang. It was one of his friends, a burly ranch foreman clad in a battered cowboy hat, faded jeans and worn boots. "I was just cleaning," my husband said somewhat abashed, turning off the vacuum.

The rancher looked relieved. "That's all right," he said gruffly, handing my husband a white paper bag. "I'm delivering Avon!"

TODAY’S WORD

distrait \dis-TRAY\, adjective:

Divided or withdrawn in attention, especially because of anxiety.

Distrait is from Old French, from distraire, "to distract," from Latin distrahere, "to pull apart; to draw away; to distract," from dis- + trahere, "to draw, to pull." It is related to distraught and distracted, which have the same Latin source

TODAY’S REFLECTION

And you will again see the distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not.

Malachi 3:18

Some of us have become families who spend the evenings as couch potatoes before the TV, rather than settling down with a good book. Do we really take time to think deeply and discriminate between what is true and what is false?

It is important for you and me to really know what we believe. Then, as today's scripture says, "You will again see the distinction between the righteous and the wicked..." and not be led astray by false teaching.

Prayerful living includes Bible study, attending worship services, and spending time in prayer. "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of the world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind" (Romans 12:2).

Prayerful living brings us close to God's way of life.
