TODAY’S QUOTE

I no longer worry about being a brilliant conversationalist. I simply try to be a good listener. I notice that people who do that are usually welcome wherever they go.

Frank Bettger

HAPPY THURSDAY !!

Today is the last day of my work week and when I get home this evening,DS#4 and his family will be here. The last time I got to see them was way back in March so I’m glad they got a chance to come home, even if it is a very short visit. They’ll be leaving Monday morning.

We had a quiet night with trick or treat at our house last night. I think we had around 50 children and most of them were little ones. Some of the parents dressed up too and it was good to see the little ones and their cute smiles. It was also nice starting while it was still daylight at 6:00 after this coming weekend it will be very dark out at 6.

2nd WARNING

Don’t forget to set the clock back one hour before you go to bed Saturday night, Daylight Savings Time ends November 4th.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

TODAY’S PRAYERS

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

25 WORDS

God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me, and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name

TODAY IS…NUTTY PECAN DAY

Now, why do people usually only eat pecans during the holidays? They are cholesterol and sodium free - and are also full of vitamines and minerals. Eating a handful every day is good for you, but don't forget to try out special pecan recipes, too!

PECAN PULL APARTS

1 pkg. frozen parker-house rolls (2 dozen)

1 small pkg. butterscotch pudding mix

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup melted margarine

3/4 cup pecans candied cherries to decorate (optional)

1. Grease a bundt pan. Put the pecans and cherries in the bottom of the pan. Place frozen rolls over the pecans (don't defrost!).

2. Sprinkle the pudding mix and the brown sugar over the rolls. Drizzle the melted margarine over the top. Cover with waxed paper and a towel. Let stand overnight, or at least 8 hours.

3. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake for 40 minutes. Let stand 5 minutes and then invert onto a serving platter.

(this really sounds yummy, but I’ve not tried it out yet)

TODAY’S SMILE

Dick Armey is a Texan, an economist and a former college professor who served in the U.S. House of Representatives for 18 years, eventually becoming Majority Leader. Over the years he collected folksy observations about life. Along the way, Armey offers a fascinating collection of stories and axioms drawn from his years in Congress as well as his life in Texas. Here are some of his axioms:

Tattoos last forever You can't stand on principle with feet of clay

You can't get ahead while you're getting even

You can't get your finger on the problem if you've got it to the wind

If it's about your power, you lose

If you insist on center stage, you get the tomatoes

No man can ever lose his daddy's spurs

The wise hen doesn't cackle until the egg is laid

You can't hunt with the big dogs dressed like a bone

Don't go back and check on a dead skunk

TODAY’S REFLECTION

The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom.

II Timothy 4:18

Are you feeling stressed out and unable to cope with your present situation? Today's scripture verse should bring you comfort, for Paul the apostle, who wrote this, had suffered many hardships since he turned from persecuting Christ's followers to become a follower of Christ himself

No matter what persecution he suffered, Paul never veered from his obedience to Christ, and the Lord never failed him.
