ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

SEPTEMBER 26TH, 2OO7

TODAY'S THOUGHT

No bird soars too high, if he soars with his own wings.

William Blake

TODAY’S ACTION

Face the challenges that you encounter with faith in your heart

TODAY’S QUOTE

You wake up in the morning, and lo! your purse is magically filled with twenty-four hours of the magic tissue of the universe of your life. No one can take it from you. No one receives either more or less than you receive. Waste your infinitely precious commodity as much as you will, and the supply will never be withheld from you.

Moreover, you cannot draw on the future. Impossible to get into debt. You can only waste the passing movements. You cannot waste tomorrow. It is kept for you.

Arnold Bennett

HAPPY WEDNESDAY !!

OVER THE HUMP DAY!

Tuesday brought a 90 degree day to northern Ohio. I think it broke or matched a record temp for sure. Today will be rainy and considerably cooler. The weather people say a high of 73 ! Tomorrow, Thursday will be my last day of work this week. I have Friday off as a catch up day.

I’ll be making the ‘deviled’ eggs to take to our ‘Sweethearts’ birthday party on Saturday. We need the rain, so I’ll just be thankful for it and try to make a little Sunshine of my own today.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

25 WORDS

God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me, and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name

TODAY IS…ACORN SQUASH DAY

Now, who thought of the name "squash"? It sounds like what happens when you step on a bug. But, even with that name, acorn squash is a delicious, sweet vegetable. It's also called winter squash - not because it grows in the winter, but because it lasts all winter if it's stored in a cool, dry place. This is because the skin is so much thicker than a summer squash like zucchini

STUFFED ACORN SQUASH

2 acorn squash (1 to 1 1/2 lbs each)

1 large, tart red apple, diced

2 tablespoons chopped nuts

2 tablespoons packed brown sugar

1 tablespoon butter or margarine, melted

1. Heat over to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). 2. Cut each squash in half lengthwise. Remove the seeds and fibers. Place the squash with the cut side up in an ungreased pan. Bake for 30 minutes. 3. In a small mixing bowl, combine the apple, nuts, brown sugar and melted butter. Spoon this mixture into the squash halves. 4. Return the squash to the over and continue baking for 30 minutes longer - or until the squash is tender.

TODAY’S SMILE

There was a policeman sitting in a great hiding place, behind a billboard one day, waiting for his speeder. He waited several hours and no one came zipping by. His patience was soon rewarded, however, when a young man flew by in his sports car.

The policeman pulled him over, sauntered up to the driver's window, and with a flashy smile said, "Son, I've been waiting for you all day!"

Without hesitating, the young man answered, "I got here as quick as I could sir!"

After laughing himself silly, the policeman let him go!

TODAY’S WORD

noisome \NOY-sum\, adjective:

1. Noxious; harmful; unwholesome.

2. Offensive to the smell or other senses; disgusting.

Noisome is from Middle English noysome, from noy, "harm," short for anoy, from Old French, from anoier, "to annoy."

TODAY’S REFLECTION

And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.

Romans 5:5 .

Maybe you’re in a marriage that’s got you thinking, “What’s the use?” Or maybe you’re facing health issues, thinking, “What’s the use?” Or perhaps you’re in a frustrating job, facing a difficult family issue, wondering if you’ll ever get good enough grades to graduate, dealing with the gut-wrenching death of the most important person in your life, or feeling hopeless after so many attempts to have a baby.

The truth is that we serve a God of hope, and it’s a hope that will not disappoint (Romans 5:5). It’s not a hope based on feeling; rather, it’s a hope deeply rooted in a relationship with the One Who Can Be Trusted Above All Others.

It doesn’t mean you’ll get everything you want, but it does mean God is working in your life, bringing you to a future hope and a holy healing (Jeremiah 29:11). Let us wait together patiently for this unseen hope that we do not hold yet in our hands, knowing, in faith, that our God of Hope will not abandon us or leave us disappointed.

Ask yourself, “Where in my life am I saying, ‘What’s the use? I might as well not even try?’” Ask God to give you hope in that area of your life – and believe, in faith, that he will!
