SEPTEMBER 20TH, 2OO7

TODAY'S THOUGHT

It is an ironic habit of human beings to run faster when we have lost our way

Rollo May

TODAY’S ACTION

TODAY’S QUOTE

Autumn makes a double demand. It asks that we prepare for the future... But it also asks that we learn to let go-- to acknowledge the beauty of sparseness.

Bonaro Overstreet

HAPPY THURSDAY !!

I’m still trying to get the days of the week straightened out here. Ever since they changed the day for Payroll to Monday at work, my week seems altogether backwards. I think I’ll finish up everything I need to do today. Too bad tomorrow isn’t a day off. It could be as there is just nothing left to do…except clean the office that is.

It is quite dirty and dusty too. The past few weeks have been so busy there hasn’t been time to do any of that. It will depend on whether or not there is someone in the office . I can’t clean around them, so if they are there, I’ll be needing to find some busy work.

We had another just beautiful day yesterday, and it looks like another one today. It did get up to 84 degrees, but it wasn’t humid and that makes a big difference.

Take good care all !

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

25 WORDS

God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me, and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name

TODAY IS…BIRTH OF THE SUN DAY

The Incas always celebrated the Birth Of The Sun on September 20th. The sun is the largest object in our solar system and is about 4.6 billion years old. Cultures that practiced sun worship down through history were usually agrarian, promoting the interests of farmers, especially by seeking a more equitable basis of land ownership, societies. When men became farmers, they were dependent on daily and seasonal changes in the weather. The sun was the great force that regulated these changes — the light and heat they needed for their crops.

TODAY’S SMILE

A depressed, overweight, single man came to a pastor because he couldn't lose weight or find a date. The pastor said, "I can help you. At 8:00 in the morning, be ready to exercise." "I've tried all the exercise programs around, and they don't work," the man replied. "Just be there at 8:00. This one works."

The man was ready at 8:00 the next morning. When the doorbell rang, he went to the door and a gorgeous woman in an exercise suit said, "The pastor told me to tell you that if you can catch me, you can marry me." And then she took off. He was so overweight he couldn't catch her.

The routine continued every day for the next three months. He lost about 50 pounds. The morning after he'd lost the 50th pound, he was a lean, mean, running machine. He knew today was the day he'd catch her. He was ready before 8:00 and couldn't wait for the doorbell to ring.

When it rang, he ran to the door and jerked it open - just in time to see the biggest woman he'd ever seen dressed in a jogging suit standing at the door. "The pastor told me to tell you that if I can catch you, I can marry you."

Last I heard, the guy was still running.

TODAY’S WORD

varicolored \VER-ih-kuh-lurd\, adjective:

Having a variety of colors; of various colors.

Varicolored is from vari- (from Latin varius, "various, diversified") + colored (from Latin color, "color, tint, hue.")

TODAY’S REFLECTION

Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for Iwill yet praise him, my Savior and my God.

Psalm 43:5

Psalm 43 is labeled as a "Psalm in time of trouble." If you read the entire Psalm, you'll see that the psalmist is pleading for God's help against his enemies. But at the end of the Psalm he asks himself the questions in today's scripture. Then he gives himself advice that you and I could well take for ourselves today — "Put your hope in God."

It might be a good idea to write HOPE in big red letters on a small card and keep it in your pocket all the time. Whenever you began to worry and fret over a problem, pull out that card, look at the word HOPE, and say a little prayer thanking God for guiding you. Keep HOPE in your heart at all times, so that you have ammunition against those negative thoughts that try to fill your mind.

HOPE will guide you to keep too busy all day and too sleepy all night to worry. Alice Rice wrote, "It ain't no use putting up your umbrella till it rains."
