TODAY’S QUOTE

Birds sing after a storm; why shouldn't people feel as free to delight in whatever remains to them?

Rose F. Kennedy

HAPPY FINALLY FRIDAY !!

Most of Thursday was dark and cloudy with just a few morning sprinkles. Finally about the time I left work, the sun came out and today should be sunny all day.

The whole weekend is supposed to be really nice. That’s a good thing because I’ll be traveling down to DS#1’s tomorrow for our Sweetheart’s 5th birthday party.

Today is my ‘vacation’ day. I really feel like I need one too ! Everything that usually gets done on Saturday will be done here today. At least it won’t be the same as going into work.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

TODAY’S PRAYERS

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

25 WORDS

God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me, and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name

TODAY IS…St. Wenceslas’ Feast Day

Also known as BEER DAY

Saint Wenceslas (b. 907, d. 929) promoted the spread of Christianity in Czechoslovakia. Wenceslas became famous through a Christmas carol by J.M. Neale, "Good King Wenceslas", which has little to do with history but more with Victorian ideals.

Because Bohemian hops were so valued, Wenceslas ordered the death penalty for anyone caught exporting the cuttings and obviously endeared himself to the local hop growers and brewers. He became the patron saint of Bohemia and Czechoslovakia and his crown became the symbol of nationalism for the Czechs. By extension he became a patron saint of Czech brewers.

TODAY’S SMILE

A poor man who lived in the country broke his leg in an accident... That meant he was laid up for a long while, unable to work. His family was large and needed help.

Someone got up a prayer meeting at the church to pray for this family. While the people were praying and asking God to help the family, there was a loud knock on the church door.

Someone tiptoed to the door, opened it, and there stood a young farm boy who said, "My dad could not attend the prayer meeting tonight, so he just sent his prayers in a wagon."

And there was the wagon loaded with meat, potatoes, apples, and other things from the farm.

There is nothing so strong or safe, in any emergency of life, as simple truth.

Charles Dickens

TODAY’S WORD

indigence \IN-dih-juhn(t)s\, noun:

A state of extreme poverty or destitution.

Indigence comes from Latin indigentia, "neediness," from indigens, indigent- present participle of indigere to be in need of, from Latin indu (archaic form of in-), "in" + egere "to be needy, to need, to lack." The adjective form is indigent

TODAY’S REFLECTION

I complained and my spirit was overwhelmed.

Lamentations 3:39b

Jeremiah has been called "the weeping prophet," and in his book of Lamentations, he wrote today's scripture. This is certainly true, for when we complain, we look at the dark side of life and we can become overwhelmed and miserable.

Life is a wonderful gift from God and we can make the most of it when we continually thank God and enjoy life to the fullest. Happiness is a feeling that depends on what is happening. Joy is an attitude that one can have in the midst of sorrow, dread or anxiety. When you surrender your life to Christ, you know that he will carry you through whatever life brings and you can be filled with joy
