APRIL 20th, 2006

TODAY'S THOUGHT

Ralph Shrader

TODAY'S ACTION

TODAY'S QUOTE

Children have neither a past nor a future. Thus they enjoy the present - which seldom happens to us.

Jean De La Bruyere

HAPPY THURSDAY!

This week is flying by. Tonight I have the last of my prayer group meetings at the Wellspring.

Tomorrow night DS#5 and his wife will be coming over after work to start taking my kitchen apart. Last year he gave me his old cupboards (they’ve been stored in the garage) The old cupboards of his are much better than what I have….so this weekend he and DS#6 are going to try and install them in my kitchen.

Emptying out all the stuff will be a good thing…I needed to clean out a lot that never gets used anyway. The weekend will be a busy one. Never a dull moment at my house.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way!

TODAY IS...RACE HORSE DAY

Horse racing is one of our oldest sports. It started about 4500 B.C. among the prehistoric nomadic tribesmen of Central Asia who first domesticated the horse. For thousands of years, it was the favorite sport of kings and nobelmen. And just like other sports... timing is everything. A thoroughbred racehorse can only run at top speed for about a quarter of a mile. The jockey's biggest job is to decide when that power surge will win the race.

TODAY'S TRIVIA

Today is National Pineapple Upside-Down Cake Day.

TODAY'S SMILE

Looking out into the congregation, the young minister noted that the bishop was in attendance. After the service was over, the minister was shaking hands as the bishop exited. "How did you like my sermon, Bishop," the young man asked.

"Young man, it was like the peace and mercy of God," replied the bishop. "It was like his peace in that it passed all understanding and like his mercy in that I thought it would endure forever

SCAM OF THE WEEK

I WAS SENT THIS NOTICE BY MORE THAN ONE PERSON THIS WEEK –

IT DOESN’T HURT TO BE AWARE

Most of us take those summonses for jury duty seriously, but enough people skip out on their civic duty, that a new and ominous kind of scam has surfaced. Fall for it and your identity could be stolen, reports CBS News.

In this con, someone calls pretending to be a court official who threateningly says a warrant has been issued for your arrest because you didn't show up for jury duty. The caller claims to be a jury coordinator. If you protest that you never received a summons for jury duty, the scammer asks you for your Social Security number and date of birth so he or she can verify the information and cancel the arrest warrant. Sometimes they even ask for credit card numbers.

Give out any of this information and bingo! Your identity just got stolen. The scam has been reported so far in 11 states, including Michigan, Ohio, Texas, Arizona, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Oregon and Washington state. This (scam) is particularly insidious because they use intimidation over the phone to try and bully people into giving information by pretending they're with the court system.

The FBI and the federal court system have issued nationwide alerts on their websites, warning consumers about the fraud.

TODAY'S REFLECTION

If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.

Psalm 139:9

What wonderful faith the psalmist shows! He knew that God is always near, to help guide decisions When you are making decisions, whether small or life changing, it is wise to take the time to pray about it.
