HAPPY WEDNESDAY !!

What a crazy day we had yesterday – weather wise that is. When I left for work the roads weren’t bad and we only had an inch or so of snow on the ground, but they kept saying we would still get more and we did. It snowed all day.

The roads were terrible and I was beginning to think the road crews went on strike as I never saw any til late afternoon. On the way home it stated raining ice pellets and the roads were slippery.

I made a trip to the grocery store at lunch time because I was hungry for a Rueben Sandwich and because they needed some supplies in the office. I’d gotten some good bread on the weekend for my Rueben, but they had no corned beef. So I got the corned beef and for supper last night I made my sandwich. It was good too ! I also made one to take in my lunch today, so I’ll be having a double treat. Usually I wait for St. Patrick’s day for that, but when I saw the good bread I got a craving and now it is satisfied.

Drive safely and keep warm !

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

TODAY’S PRAYERS

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

25 WORDS

God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me, and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name

TO REMEMBER…

I am in the hands of God, and in God’s time all things will be made well.

TODAY IS…STAMP COLLECTORS DAY

Stamp collecting is called Philately. Nobody knows who collected the first stamps, but it is now considered a rewarding and relaxing hobby. It is also educational. Learning about stamps teaches us about the currency, history, and customs of diffenent countries. There are more than a half million stamps issued worldwide with thousands more being released each year.

TODAY’S SMILE

First-graders were nervous as the teacher called on them to pass out their valentines that February day several years ago. Some of the students received many valentines. Others, who had received only a few, huddled low in their chairs.

The teacher noticed one girl in particular. Her name was Serena. She was shy and awkward, came to school only sporadically, and did not seem to have any friends among her classmates.

Serena had only a few valentines on her desk, and tears were running down her cheeks, so the teacher knelt beside her to comfort her. But to her astonishment, Serena was crying for joy! "Look at all my valentines!" she exclaimed. "I never thought I'd get even one, and look! I got six!"

Whether the cup is half empty or half full depends on your point of view. Like Serena, all of us need to modify the negative so we can accentuate the positive..

TODAY’S WORD

TODAY’S REFLECTION

There, Jesus changed right in front of them. His face shined like the sun. And his clothes were as white as sunlight. Suddenly, the three followers saw Moses and Elijah talking with Jesus. Peter spoke up, "Lord! We're lucky to be here! If you want, I'll pitch three tents: one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah." While Peter was speaking, a light-filled cloud suddenly covered them. Just as suddenly, a voice spoke from the cloud, "This is the Son I love. He pleases me. So listen to him.

Matthew 17:2-5

As the old saying goes: "Seeing is believing." People love to entertained with the spectacular and the unusual. Illusionists and magicians prosper from the seemingly impossible and improbable. A gloss reading of this gospel tempts us to place the Transfiguration in the stories of the amazing.

That, however, would do an injustice to the impact of the story. For its impact lies not in the appearance of Jesus (as important as that was) but in the faith life of the Peter, James, and John. Yes, the transfiguration amazed Peter, James, and John. The amazement, however, led to fear of losing control and the peace that came with trusting God, not the entertaining awes of simple disbelief.

The amazement helped change Jesus disciples from common fishermen to uncommon apostles. In small ways and large, Jesus constantly calls to us for a deeper walk with him. Do we heed the call and take the chance?
