ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

FEBRUARY 3rd, 2008

TODAY'S THOUGHT

God provides the wind, but man must raise the sails.

Saint Augustine

TODAY’S ACTION

Face your challenges with determination and resiliency

TODAY’S QUOTE

Don't knock the weather; nine-tenths of the people couldn't start a conversation if it didn't change once in a while.

Kin Hubbard

HAPPY SUNDAY !!

I’ll be off to church a little later this morning, but right now I’m enjoying the good cup of coffee and a nice slow start to the day.

I stayed in all of yesterday and with very few exceptions got a lot of needed rest.

It could be that I’ll have to make a stop at the store after church as I seem to be out of coffee. Usually I have a nice supply on hand, but not today and I can’t start the day without it for sure.

Today should be a nice quiet Sunday here. It always is. The critters and I pretty much don’t make much noise.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

TODAY’S PRAYERS

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

GOD BLESS YOU !

25 WORDS

God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me, and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name

TO REMEMBER…

I am in the hands of God, and in God’s time all things will be made well.

TODAY IS…TAKE A CRUISE DAY

So many cruise ships, so little time!

Taking a cruise has become the vacation of choice for all ages. You don't have to bother with hotels or restaurants - just board your ship and sail away with everything provided. The only problem is... how much food can one person eat!

TODAY’S TRIVIA

Super Bowl-42 is played today at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

Today is National Popcorn Day, always on Super Bowl Sunday

Today is National Carrot Cake Day

Children's Authors and Illustrators Week, Coaching week, Leadership week, Pancake Week, and Consumer Protection Week all begin today

Carnival, Fasching, or Mardi Gras week begins in many areas today, the final Sunday before Lent.

1862 - Thomas Edison, always looking for a way to do something new, came up with this idea: He printed the Weekly Herald and distributed it to train passengers traveling between Port Huron and Detroit, MI.

1946 - The first issue of Holiday magazine appeared on this day

TODAY’S SMILE

THE FINAL ANALYSIS

also know as ANYWAY

People are often unreasonable, Illogical, and self-centered; Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, People may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives; Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, You will win some false friends and some true enemies; Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank, People may cheat you; Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building, Someone could destroy overnight; Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, They may be jealous; Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, People will often forget tomorrow; Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have, And it may never be enough; Give the world the best you've got anyway.

You see, in the final analysis, It is between you and God; It never was between you and them anyway.

"The Final Analysis" appears to have beenwritten by Mother Teresa. This poem was on a sign on the wall of Shishu Bhavan, the children's home in Calcultta..

TODAY’S WORD

 subterfuge \SUB-tur-fyooj\, noun:

A deceptive device or stratagem

Subterfuge comes from Late Latin subterfugium, "a secret flight," from Latin subterfugere, "to flee in secret, to evade," from subter, "underneath, underhand, in secret" + fugere, "to flee." It is related to fugitive, one who flees

TODAY’S REFLECTION

Jesus replied, You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand. John 13:7

I used to wonder why the apostles were not more perceptive. They followed Jesus, but sometimes they did not fully comprehend what he was saying or doing.

Jesus' message of peace was unexpected, and his humble acts defied social convention. He spoke in parables; he lived simply. Yet everything he did led to the establishment of God's kingdom

I now understand that God's purpose for my life is something that unfolds in both large and small ways. I try to be obedient to what I know God wants me to do in ordinary situations, believing that later I will understand how this fits into the larger plan.

TODAY’S ADVICE FROM THE OLD FARMER’S ALMANAC

Place new packages of flour and grain in the freezer for seven days to kill any stowaway pests, then transfer the food to air-tight containers to prevent any "newcomers" from taking up residence

46 DAYS UNTIL SPRING !

Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your Heart

Psalm 37:4

May there be a miracle in YOUR life today and may you have the EYES to SEE it!

I Love You All !!!

Be Blessed !!!
