ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

JANUARY 18TH, 2008

TODAY'S THOUGHT

Love does not consist of gazing at each other, but in looking together in the same direction.

Antione de Saint-Exupery

TODAY’S ACTION

Use the difficulties in your life to increase your ability to love.

TODAY’S QUOTE

We need old friends to help us grow old and new friends to help us stay young.

Lettie Cottin Pogrebin

HAPPY FRIDAY !!

Our promised colder air is on the way…by tonight we’ll be feeling an artic blast for sure. Tomorrow the full force will hit. Watching the news last evening they said that in Fargo, North Dakota they had 5 degrees and it was coming our way.

I heard from our ‘Sunshine Babes’ on Thursday and they even had snow. Hopefully I’ll have a picture of them soon. This is a rare thing for them, but every once in a while they do get it.l

I will be putting on the layers and keeping warm for sure.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

TODAY’S PRAYERS

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

25 WORDS

God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me, and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name

TO REMEMBER…

I am in the hands of God, and in God’s time all things will be made well.

TODAY’S TRIVIA

Today is Pooh Day, marking the birth of writer A.A. Milne on this date in 1882. He created Winnie the Pooh

Today is UFO Day, marking the first reported sighting of a UFO in America by Pilgrims in Boston. The year was 1644.

In 1778, on this day, Captain James Cook, of the British Navy, thought he was the first to find a group of islands in the Pacific. He named them the Sandwich Islands in honor of England’s Earl of Sandwich, the first lord of the British Admiralty. Little did he know that the islands already had a name. The people who lived on them called the islands Hawaii (known to us now as the 50th of the United States)

1896 - The x-ray machine was exhibited (in New York City) for the first time. To see the machine, one had to pay a 25¢ admission charge

1948 - Ted Mack came to television as The Original Amateur Hour debuted on the DuMont network

TODAY’S SMILE

A sea captain and his chief engineer were arguing over who was most important to the ship. To prove their point to each other, they decided to swap places.

The chief engineer ascended to the bridge, and the captain went to the engine room. Several hours later, the captain suddenly appeared on deck covered with oil and dirt. "Chief!" he yelled, waving aloft a monkey wrench. "You have to get down there: I can't make her go!" "Of course you can't," replied the chief. "She's aground!"

On a team we don't excel each other; we depend on each other.

ANOTHER SHORT ONE…

The one thing that unites all human beings, regardless of age, gender, religion, economic status or ethnic background, is that, deep down inside, we ALL believe that we are above average drivers.

Dave Barry

THE LAST ONE FOR TODAY...

 PUT versus PUTT

A woman was taking her first golf lesson. "Is the word spelled 'put' or 'putt'?" she asked the instructor. "'Putt' is correct," he replied. "

'Put' means to place a thing where you want it.

'Putt' means a vain attempt to do the same thing."

TODAY’S WORD

hyperbole \hy-PUHR-buh-lee\, noun:

Extravagant exaggeration.

Hyperbole comes from Greek hyperbole, "excess," from hyperballein, "to exceed," from hyper, "beyond" + ballein, "to throw."

TODAY’S REFLECTION

We have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function.

Romans 12:4

As we observe the animals and people around us, we’re reminded that God made each of us unique for a purpose. One person’s natural tendency is to look up and see the “big picture,” while another looks down and focuses on details. Both are important.

One is not better than the other. God gave us individual talents and spiritual gifts so that we can work together as a body.

Human beings are the crowning jewel of creation, and we shine the brightest not when we see our own likeness reflected in others but when each of us performs the unique functions that God designed for us to do.

“Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them” (Rom. 12:6).

TODAY’S ADVICE FROM THE OLD FARMER’S ALMANAC

He that goes a-borrowing, goes a-sorrowing.

Benjamin Franklin

62 DAYS UNTIL SPRING !

Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your Heart

Psalm 37:4

May there be a miracle in YOUR life today and may you have the EYES to SEE it!

I Love You All !!!

Be Blessed !!!
