ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

JANUARY 13TH, 2008

TODAY'S THOUGHT

Searching for that big happy moment in life, how many special little moments we let pass us by?

TODAY’S ACTION

Focus on your blessings for they are your true worth

TODAY’S QUOTE

If you never learned the lesson of thankfulness, begin now. Sum up your mercies; see what provision God has made for your happiness, what opportunities for your usefulness, and what advantages for your success.

Ida S. Taylor

HAPPY SUNDAY !!

R & R day is here once more and I’m ready for it.

Yesterday, DD, her hubby and I went to two different Camper dealerships to follow up on what we saw at the RV Show we went to last weekend. They did find one that they really like and made an offer for it, we will find out on Monday if it is a deal or not.

After church today DD and I are going shopping to spend the gift cards that we got for Christmas. That should be fun as I always like spending time with my daughter.

The weather man says rain for this afternoon changing to snow over night with a possible accumulation of 2 inches. It could be a little tricky going back to work on Monday morning.

Next weekend is DS#6’s birthday as well as our ‘Princess’ birthday too. Both were born on the same day but 20 years apart. I hope to go visit him next Saturday (19th) and then the Saturday after that (26th) I will see our Princess at the Stroll for Epilepsy.

We do this every year in honor of our ‘Sweetheart’ who is now 5 and has had this illness since she was about 6 months old. This particular event benefits the Epilepsy Foundation of Central Ohio. It will be the 2nd time I’ve done the Stroll and I hope to continue to do so as it does help. If you want to learn more here is a link to their website. http://www.epilepsy-ohio.org/

The next few weekends will be busy ones for sure. That is fine by me as time flies when you are having fun and January does tend to drag on a bit.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

TODAY’S PRAYERS

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

25 WORDS

God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me, and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name

TO REMEMBER…

I am in the hands of God, and in God’s time all things will be made well.

TODAY IS…BAD BACK DAY

OUCH!

If we walked down on all 4's, our back's wouldn't hurt (but our hands sure would!) Since most of us just use our feet to get around, here is everything you ever wanted to know to help your bad back: http://wordsofwellness.com/Back%20Aches.htm

TODAY’S TRIVIA

Today is Radio Day, marking the first public radio broadcast on this date in 1910 when tube inventor Lee DeForest broadcast the voices of Metropolitan Opera stars to several receivers in New York City

Today is National Peach Melba Day

Today is New Year's Day, according to the old Julian Calendar. It's still observed in Belarus, Ukraine, and some communities in Russia

Today is Free Water Day, a day to dine out at any restaurant where water is free.

1942 - Henry Ford patented the plastic automobile which, allowed for a 30% decrease in car weight. Of course, it didn’t cost any less to buy a plastic car. Just ask Corvette owners...

1957 - The Wham-O Company developed the first plastic Frisbee. The most popular theory as to how this flying disc came to be dates back to the 1920s when Yale students invented a game of catch by tossing around metal pie tins from the Frisbee Baking Company in nearby Bridgeport, Connecticut. They would frequently shout “Frisbieeeee” to warn passersby of the oncoming pie plate. Building inspector Fred Morrison puttered with and refined a plastic flying disc that he sold to WHAM-O (for $1 million) on this day in 1955. The disc was introduced to the consumer market in 1957 as the Pluto Platter (the name inspired by the U.S. obsession with UFOs). Wham-O changed the name to Frisbee in 1958, upon hearing the Yale pie-tin story. (Mattel now owns the rights to Frisbee, which has become an American icon.)

TODAY’S SMILE

A blonde was weed-eating her yard and accidentally cut off the tail of her cat which was hiding in the grass. She rushed her cat, along with the tail over to WalMart.

Why WalMart???

HELLOOOOO!

WALMART is the largest retailer in the world!

ONE MORE…

NEW WINE FOR SENIORS

California vintners in the Napa Valley area primarily produce Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir and Pinot Grigio wines. Now they have developed a new hybrid grape that acts as an anti-diuretic.

It is expected to reduce the number of trips older people have to make to the bathroom during the night. What will they call this new wine?

Why, Pinot More, of course!

TODAY’S WORD

raillery \RAY-luh-ree\, noun:

1. Good-humored banter or teasing.

2. An instance of good-humored teasing; a jest.

Raillery is from French raillerie, from Old French railler, "to tease, to mock

TODAY’S REFLECTION

I have chosen the way of truth; I have obeyed your laws. Psalm 119:30 We can choose:

• a narrow gate or a wide gate (Matt. 7:13-14)

• a narrow road or a wide road (Matt. 7:13-14)

• the big crowd or the small crowd (Matt. 7:13-14)

We can choose to:

• build on a rock or sand (Matt. 7:24-27)

 • serve God or riches (Matt. 6:24)

• be numbered among the sheep or the goats (Matt. 25:32-33)

God gives eternal choices, and these choices have eternal consequences.

One of God’s greatest gifts?

The gift of choice.
