FOR WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 9TH, 2007

ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

JANUARY 9TH, 2008

TODAY'S THOUGHT

The best thing about the future is that it only comes one day at a time.

Abraham Lincoln

TODAY’S ACTION

Today be happy with what you have—not discontent with what you don’t have

TODAY’S QUOTE

You have to decide what your highest priorities are and have the courage, pleasantly, smilingly, non-apologetically, to say no to other things. And the way you do that is by having a bigger ‘yes’ burning inside.

Stephen Covey

HAPPY WEDNESDAY !!

OVER THE HUMP DAY!

It really seems as though it should be Friday, but it is truly only Wednesday. I’m looking forward to March. It seems that on the 15th of March (the ides of March) is when I start picking up some steam.

My energy level is running on very slow and I feel like I’m just about out of fuel. Going to bed earlier, only makes me want to get up earlier. Which is a good thing, because Tuesday morning when I woke at 4:00 in the morning, I found out the power was out.

I decided that I’d best get up as the alarm wouldn’t be there to wake me if I fell back asleep. I dressed by candlelight and drank some cold tea from the fridge instead of my morning coffee. Shortly after 6:00 the power did come back on so I didn’t have to worry about getting the car out of the garage (it has an electric garage door opener). I know there is an emergency entrance somehow, but I haven’t ever tried it out before.

Hopefully this morning everything will be working correctly. It’s not a very nice way to start the day when things go crazy.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

TODAY’S PRAYERS

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Connecticut, entered the United States of America this day. Hartford, the capital of Connecticut ... and of the insurance industry ... boasts having the oldest newspaper, "Hartford Courant", which has been publishing since 1764. Many of the state’s symbols have been there as long, if not longer: state fossil: eubrontes giganteus; bird: American robin; flower: mountain laurel; tree: white oak; animal: sperm whale; mineral: garnet; shellfish: Eastern oyster; insect: praying mantis; hero: Nathan Hale. Nicknamed the Nutmeg State, Connecticut, the fifth state, also has an official designation: the Constitution State. In the 1630s, the English settlements along the tidal river gathered together to form the Connecticut Colony and wrote the first constitution in the new world, "Fundamental Orders". Connecticut’s motto: He who transplanted still sustains

TODAY’S SMILE .

Legend has it that when the famous frontiersman Davy Crockett was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1827, a newspaper reporter asked him if he’d ever been lost.

Crockett had grown up in the woods and wilderness of middle and western Tennessee and was often gone out on hunting trips for weeks at a time.

Crockett thought about the question for a moment and said, “Nope, I’ve never been lost. I have been a might bewildered for a week or two, but I’ve never been lost.”

Every exit is an entrance somewhere else.

TODAY’S REFLECTION

And in their prayers for you their hearts go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you. Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!

II Corinthians 9:14-15

Today's scripture tells of God's great gift to us — grace, which someone has defined as "God's Redemption At Christ's Expense." Our lives can demonstrate the power his grace gives us.

We surely have much for which to be thankful. It makes us want to help others. And we have the opportunity to give others encouragement and appreciation, two of the greatest gifts we can give

It is wonderful to see how helpful words of encouragement can be, when someone is struggling to accomplish something. Yet it is amazing how often we fail to seize the opportunity to encourage others in their endeavors. And how many times we forget to say thanks for a kindness done for us.

Lord, forgive us when we forget to thank you for your indescribable gift. Help us always to remember to encourage and thank you and others. Amen
